so when the educator realizes,

he is hurt and the child is hurt,

he is aware of he's hurt

and he is aware also of the child's hurt,

then the relationship changes

 

교육자가 이렇게 알아차릴 때,

 

그 자신이 상처 받았고

저 아이가 상처 받았다,

 

그 자신의 상처를 인식하고

저 아이의 상처 또한 인식한다,

 

그러면 관계가 변한다

 

then he in the very act of teaching,

whatever it is,

he is not only freeing himself from his hurt,

but also helping the child to be free of his hurt

 

그가 가르치는 것이

무엇을 가르치든,

그는 그 자신을 그의 아픔으로부터 자유롭게 할 뿐 아니라

아이가 그 자신의 상처로부터도 자유롭도록 돕는다

 

after all

that is education

 

결국

그것이 교육이다

 

to see that i,

who am the teacher,

i am hurt, i have gone through agonies of hurt,

and i want to help that child not to be hurt,

and he has come to the school being hurt,

so i say, all right, we both are hurts, my friends,

let's see, let's help each other to wipe it out

내가 상처 받았다,

아픔의 고통을 겪었다,

그리고 난 저 아이가 아프지 않도록 돕고 싶다,

아이는 다친 채 학교에 오고 있다
