우리 존재는

경험의 내용에서 이어받는 그 온갖 특질들에서 벗어나 있다

the very highest devotion, 

even higher than our longing for god,

even higher than our longing for truth or enlightenment,

is to stand as being

just to stand as being

 

가장 높은 헌신은,

 

신을 향한 우리 열망보다 훨씬 높은,

진리나 깨달음을 향한 열망보다 높은 것은

 

단지 존재로서 있는 것이다

 

because when we stand as being, 

we are not qualified by any limitations that define us as an individual self or an individual being

so when you stand just as being, 

when you take the divine name, i am,

and allow yourself to be drawn into its reference,

and as you sink into its reference,

our being is divested of all the qualities that it inherits from the content of experience

 

존재로서 있을 때 우리는,

한 개인인 자신이나 한 개인인 존재로 정의하는, 

어떤 제한의 특질도 없이 있다

 

단지 존재로서 있을 때,

-나 있다- 는 신성한 이름을 받아들일 때,

그 표현으로 끌려들 때,

그 표현으로 가라앉을 때,

 

우리 존재는

경험의 내용에서 이어받는 그 온갖 특질들에서 벗어나 있다

 

we stand as being

that's pure love

and it's the ultimate devotion, it's the ultimate surrender

because there's no individual being left to surrender

so that is in our terminology the equivalent of what the sufi refers to as union with god

it's not really union with god because there's no self to be united

it's what banayani calls union without union

 

우리가 존재로서 있다

그것이 순수한 사랑이다

그것이 궁극의 헌신, 궁극의 내맡김이다

내맡길 개인 존재는 있지 않으므로

 

우리 용어로, 수피가 신과 하나됨이라 하는 것

정말로는 신과 하나되는 것이 아니다

하나될 자신은 없으므로

그것이 banayani 가 하나됨 없는 하나임이라 하는 것이다
