상당히 놀라운 말이다

그는, '나의 종교는 불교다'라 하지 않았다

the dalai lama said, 'my religion is kindness'

that's quite a surprising statement

he didn't say, 'my religion is buddhism'

what is it, kindness?

loving kindness arises from the deeper level of consciousness

친절이 무엇인가

사랑하는 친절은,

깊은 의식의 단계에서 올라온다

and what you can sense that is beyond the person,

there is their being,

their consciousness which is one with your consciousness

this is the end of delusion of absolute separateness

and that's love

that's the true meaning of love

'그런 사람임' 을 벗어나 있는,

그들의 존재가 있는 것을 느낀다

그들의 의식은, 그대의 의식과 하나인 것이다

그것이 절대 분리의 환상을 끝낸다

그리고 그것이 사랑이다

그것이 사랑의 진짜 뜻이다

you do recognize there is conditioned personality there

everybody has one

the conditioned person may even be a bit difficult

but you do not equate the conditioning of this person

with their identity, their true being

and that's the real meaning of letting go of judgment

조건화된 성격, 상태,

'그런 사람임' 이란 것이 있는 것을 본다

모두가 갖고 있다

'그런 사람' 이, 좀 힘겨울 수 있다

하지만 '그런 사람' 이라는 상태와

at the moment, our world culture is predicated on a single idea

there is a single idea that informs our entire world culture,

namely the assumption of separation

that is the fundamental premise of our world culture

most people believe that being a body is their primary experience

and being aware is a function of the body

그것이 우리 세상 문화의 기본 전제다

대부분의 사람들이

몸으로 있는 것을, 그들의 기본 존재라 믿는다

그리고 의식은 몸의 기능이라 생각한다

because we think that the body is our primary existence,

body made out of matter,

extrapolate that belief and

think that matter is the fundamental reality of the universe

and that what we are is the individual consciousness

within this little conglomeration of matter

몸이 우리의 기초 존재라 생각하기 때문에,

몸은 물질로 만들어져 있고,

그 믿음으로 추정해서,

물질이 우주의 근본 실체라 생각한다

that's why our world culture is predicated on the assumption of separation

because we have believed the evidence of sense perception

we still have a very primitive belief

there are two inevitable consequences of this belief in separation

suffering on the inside and conflict on the outside

여전히 아주 원시적인 믿음이다

분리를 믿는 것에서 나오는 피할 수 없는 두 가지 결과는,

안에서의 고통,

그리고 밖에서의 갈등이다

and all the peace treaties and the ceasefires,

why do they never last?

because they contain within them the assumption of separation

of which conflict is an expression in the first place

if the solution contains the source of the conflict within it,

it cannot be a real solution

so how will what we do here help?

not dealing at the level of politics

what we're dealing with here is

we're investigating the fundamental premise 

on which our entire life is built

we are seeing through the apparent evidence of sense perception

just as our current culture has built a model on the assumption of separation,

and our entire culture is an expression of that model,

what we're doing here is going back,

all the way back to first principles, the unity of being

then basing on our own lives on that model

감각 인식이 입증인 것처럼 보이는 것을 관통해 본다

분리의 가설을 파고든다

그리고 존재의 하나임을 본다

우리의 지금 문화가

분리의 가설에 근거한 모델을 만들어,

the finite mind's life in the world arises

on behalf of the belief that the finite mind is separate,

independently existing entity

and that's what most people's thoughts and actions are informed by

유한한, 제한된 마음의 삶은 세상에서

그 마음이,

따로 존재하는 것이라 믿는데서 생긴다

대부분의 사람들의 생각, 행동이 근거하는 곳이다

when the nature of reality becomes clear,

the purpose that the finite mind has in the world changes

the faculties of the finite mind continue

its abilities to think, feel, act, perceive, relate, create and so on,

all these faculties continue

실체의 본성이 명확해질수록,

세상에서 유한한 마음이 갖는 목적이 변한다

생각하고, 느끼고, 행동하고, 인식하고, 연결하고,

창조하는 등등 의 역량들은 게속 있지만

but they're now  no longer used 

in service of the apparently separate self

they are used in the service of the love and peace

and understanding

that is nature of being

하지만 그 힘들이 더는,

별개로 존재하는 것처럼 보이는 자신에게

헌신하는데  쓰이지 않는다

사랑과 평화, 이해에 기여하는 것으로 사용된다

그것이 존재의 본성이다

you feel your finite mind is informed by this recognition of truth

and therefore your finite mind wants to live its life

in service of that or as an expression of that

제한된, 유한한 마음들이

진짜 이해에 근거를 두는 것으로 느껴진다

그 이해에 기여하는 것으로,

혹은 그것의 표현으로서

살기를 바란다

most people's finite minds are porous

some finite minds are extremely dense,

very rarely openness enough in them to feel peace or love

and they only feel them in relation to their own family

but most people's minds are more porous and more open

and therefore the nature of being,

its inherent peace and love flow through such a mind

to a greater or lesser extent, more ore less of the time

대부분의 사람들의 제한된 마음들은

수용성 있다

극도로 농도가 진해서,

평화나 사랑을 느끼도록 충분히 열려 있지 않고

그들 자신의 가족에게나 열릴 뿐인 마음도 있다

the presumption that you're making is

in order for this space to recognize that it is the vast space of the universe,

it must go out there and sample that space

그대가 세운 가정은

라는 것이다

no, all the space in this room, at the moment the space in this room,

if you were to ask the space in this room,

'tell us about yourself'

it would look about the walls and it would say,

'well, i am square. i'm 3 meters tall. i'm 15 years old'

it would go on like this

지금 이 방의 공간에게,

'네 자신에 대해 말해달라' 라 한다면

벽을 둘러보고, 

'난 사각이다

3 미터 높이, 15년 되었다'

이런 식으로 갈 것이다

we would say to it

'no no no, tell us about yourself,

don't tell us about the walls, don't tell us about your age,

don't tell us about your history, don't tell us about what you're full of,

tell us about yourself

look at yourself'

우리가 말한다

'아니, 네 자신에 대해 말해달라

벽에 대해서가 아니라,

얼마나 되었는지가 아니라,

과거사가 아니라

무엇으로 차 있는지가 아니라

네 자신에 대해 말해달라

네 자신을 봐라'

and  the space would then stop looking at its contents,

and it would look at itself

it would sample itself

and in that discovery, in that recognition of itself,

it would realize, 'i have no limits'

그러면 공간은

공간 안 내용물 보기를 그만둘 것이다

그 발견에서,

그 자신을 보는 것에서,

'난 제한이 없구나' 라 알아차릴 것이다

it doesn't need to go outside to have that experience

indeed, if it looks outside,

it looks out through the filter of those curtains

so it doesn't see the space outside as it really is

it sees it modulated through the curtains

그 경험을 하기 위해, 밖으로 나가지 않아도 된다

사실, 밖을 본다고 하면,

저 커튼이란 필터를 통해 바라본다

그래서 정말 있는 것인 대로 밖을 보지 못한다

커튼을 통해 바뀐 것을 본다

so the only way the space in this room can know

what it essentially is,

by looking at itself

이 방 공간이, 

본질상 무엇인지 알 수 있는 유일한 방법은

자신을 보는 것으로써다

it's exactly the same with yourself

yourself is the space in this room

you cannot look outside to recognize who you are

because  you look oustide through the five windows of the senses

and everything you perceive will appear

in accordance with the limitations of those senses

그대 자신도 같다

그대가 이 방 공간이다

그대가 누구인지 알아보기 위해 밖을 볼 수 없다

다섯 가지 감각의 창문을 통해 밖을 보기 때문이다

그래서 그대가 인식하는 모든 것이

그 감각들의 한계에 어울려 나타나 보일 것이다

so like the space in this room,

you cannot know the nature of reality

by looking through the window of your senses

the only way you can know the nature of your being

is look at itself directly

이 방의 공간처럼,

그대는 그대의 감각이란 창문을 통해 보는 것으로

실체의 본성을 알 수 없다

그대란 존재의 본성을 알 수 있는 유일한 방법은

직접 자신을 보는 것이다

이 방 공간이,

네 벽에 가두어져 있는 것처럼 보이는,

제한을 갖고 있지 않은 것처럼

그대의 존재도

그대 몸의 네 벽 안에 담긴 것처럼 보이는

제한을 갖고 있지 않다

at the level of which we're talking,

you go deeply into the experience of being,

you never experience of being appearing or disappearing

in other words, you have no experience of birth or death

or appearance or disappearance of being

that's what balyani's talking about

우리가 말하는 단계에서다

그대가 있는 경험으로 깊이 간다

그대가 있는 것이,

나타나거나 사라지거나 하는 것을 경험하지 않는다

다른 말로 하면, 존재가 태어나거나 죽거나 

나타나거나 사라지거나 하는 경험을 하지 않는다

그것이 balyani 가 말하는 것이다

balyani does not admit the existence of brith and death

and so the idea that you find in many traditions

that you have to die before you die,

is at best a concession

very often a misunderstanding

because it is addressed to the finite mind

which supposedly has to die before the infinite can be recognized

balyani 는 탄생과 죽음의 존재를 인정하지 않는다

그래서 많은 전통들에서 그대가 보는,

죽기 전에 죽어야 한다는 이 생각은

기껏해야 타협안이다

흔히 오해된다

무한이 알아차려지기 전 죽게 된다는

유한한 마음에게 설득력 있는 것이다

but for the finite mind to die,

it must first exist

it doesn't exist

what does the space in this room have to do

to become the vast space of the universe?

하지만 유한한 마음이 죽으려면,

그것이 먼저 존재해야 한다

존재하지 않는 것이

이 방 공간이 우주의 광대한 공간이 되려면

무엇을 해야 하는가

does it have to die? does it have to be transformed?

does it have to unite? no

it is already that

there are not finite spaces in the world

this space seems to be enclosed in the four walls of this room

but if you were to take a sample of the space in this room,

you would find no limits there

그것이 죽어야 하는가

변형되어야 하는가

하나가 되어야 하는가

아니다

이미 그것이다

세상에 제한된 공간은 없다

이 공간은 이 방의 네 벽으로 막혀 있어 보인다

하지만 이 방의 공간 표본을 얻는다면,

거기에서 그대는 어떤 한계도 발견하지 못할 것이다

if you take a sample of your being, yourself,

you don't find any limits there

just as this space dosen't share the limits of four walls

within which it seems to be contained,

your being doesn't share the limits of the four walls of your body

within which it seems to be contained

그대가 자신의 표본을 채취한다고 하자

거기에서 어떤 한계도 발견하지 못한다

방 공간이,

네 벽에 가두어져 있는 것처럼 보이는,

제한을 갖고 있지 않은 것처럼

그대의 존재도

this mixture of infinite being plus the four walls of the body

makes a seemingly finite self

just like the mixture of the vast space of the universe

with the four walls of this room

makes a seemingly finite temporary space

무한한 존재에

몸의 네 벽이 더해져 뒤섞인 것이

유한한 자신처럼 보이는 것을 만든다

우주의 광대한 공간이, 이 방의 네 벽과 뒤섞여

유한한, 일시적 공간을 만든 것처럼 보이듯

but there is no finite temporary space in this room

it's just the one space of the universe

it's not going to unite with the vast space of the universe

when these walls are taken down

하지만 이 방에,

유한한, 일시적인 공간은 없다

우주의 하나의 공간일 뿐이다

벽이 무너질 때, 우주의 광대한 공간과 합쳐질 것이 아니다

so there is no separate self that needs to die before it dies

this idea is at best a concession

to one who is not yet able to understand what i've just suggested

very often misunderstanding

in other words, this idea is predicated on the belief

that there really is a separate self that has to die before your true nature is recognized

그래서

죽기 전에 죽어야 하는, 별개의 자신은 없다

이 생각은 타협안일 뿐이다

내가 방금 말한 것을 아직 이해할 수 없는 이에게

흔히 오해되는 것이다

다른 말로 하면, 이 생각은

the infinite, everywhere in its apparent creation,

it leaves traces of itself

the main trace that it leaves in the finite mind

is the knowledge i

everybody without exception feels that they are i

무한은, 그가 창조한 것으로 보이는 모든 곳에,

유한한 마음에 남겨둔, 주요한 흔적은

'나' 라는 앎

예외 없이, 모두가 '나' 라고 느낀다

of course, most finite mind identify that i with a body and with a hiostory and so on

so they have very limited sense of i

but nevertheless, i is the trace of the infinite in the finite

but there are many other traces

the experience of happiness

물론, 대부분의 유한한 마음은

그 '나' 를 몸, 과거사 등등과 동일시한다

그래서 아주 제한된 나 의 느낌을 갖는다

하지만 그럼에도, '나' 는

제한된 것에 있는, 무한의 흔적이다

많은 다른 흔적들이 있다

행복의 경험이 또한

when you're unhappy, you are always by definition seeking,

you're always trying to do something to bring your unhappiness to an end

so suffering is a mode of seeking or resisting

you're always trying to find someone

or something to briing your suffering to an end

so suffering is an activity of your mind,

an activity of seeking or resisting

그대가 불행할 때, 

항상 쫓는다

불행을 끝내기 위해, 무언가를 하려 한다

고통이다, 쫓거나 저항하는 방식

고통을 끝내기 위해

누군가를 찾으려 하거나, 무언가를 하려 한다

고통은 그대 마음의 활동이다

쫓거나 저항하는 활동이다

but then when you get the thing you want,

your seeking activity comes to an end

and in that brief moment, your true nature of happiness shines

the mind, of course the rises again

wrongly attributes happiness experienced to the object

and goes out again and seeks more objects, and hence addiction

원하는 것을 얻을 때,

쫓는 활동이 끝난다

그 짧은 순간에, 그대의 진짜 본성이 빛난다

물론, 마음이 다시 일어난다

경험된 행복을 대상 때문으로 여긴다

그래서 다시 나가서, 더 많은 대상을 쫓는다

그렇게 중독이

there's so such thing as temporary happiness

imagine a sky on a cloudy day,

and there's a parting of clouds and a little patch of blue opens up

and then 10 minutes later, the clouds cover over again

and you think the blue sky is temporary

that's like the belief that happiness is temporary

일시적 행복이란 것은 없다

구름 낀 날 하늘을 생각해 보자

구름이 모여 있는 중에, 작은 파랑이 열려 있다

10분 후, 구름이 다시 가린다

그대는 파란 하늘이 일시적이라 생각한다

행복이 일시적이라 생각하는 것과 같다

the blue sky isn't temparary

it doesn't mean you can always see it

because it's sometimes covered in clouds

but it's not temporary

the clouds are temporary

파란 하늘은 일시적이지 않다

항상 그것을 볼 수 있다는 뜻은 아니다

구름에 덮여 있는 때가 있으므로

하지만 일시적이지 않다

구름이 일시적이다

happiness is the blue sky

it's always there, but not always experienced

because it's covered with clouds of thoughts and feelings

and when there's a gap in the clouds of thoughts and feelings,

the blue sky of happiness shines through

the clouds cover it again

행복은 파란 하늘이다

항상 있다

하지만 항상 경험되지는 않는다

생각, 느낌의 구름들로 덮여 있으므로

생각, 느낌의 구름들 사이에 틈이 있을 때

행복의 파라 하늘이 빛난다

다시 구름이 그것을 가린다

and we think, 'oh happiness is temporary experience

that alternates with unhappiness'

no, it's not

happiness is permanent, it is your nature

there is happiness and the veiling of the happiness

but never the absence of happiness

우리는, '아 행복은 불행과 교대하는 일시적 경험이다' 라 생각한다

아니다

행복은 영원한다, 그대의 본성이다

행복이 있고, 행복의 가림이 있다

하지만 행복이 없는 적은 없다

우주는 창조하는 것을 아주 좋아한다

the universe loves creating

you might have noticed it

if you look around,

if you go diving in the ocean and

see how many countless unbelievable life form theere exist even underwater

and on land

hundreds of thousands of life forms that the universe delignts in creating

주위를 둘러보면,

바다 속으로 들어가면,

물 아래 얼마나 많은, 셀 수 없는, 믿지 못할 생명 형상들이 존재하는지

육지에서도

무수한 생명 형상들을, 우주는 기뻐하며 만들어내고 있다

and it also wants to create through you

it's a totally different way of creating

so use of the mind can only be done effectively

if you step back and forth from the surface i to the deep i

then thinking becomes friutful

그대를 통해서 또한 창조하고 싶어한다

그건 완전히 다른 방식이다

마음의 사용은,

그대가 표면의 나 에서, 깊은 나 로

왔다갔다 할 때에만 효과적일 수 있다

그러면 생각이 열매를 맺는다

and when you visulize something that you want to create,

you visualize it as already existing

although it doesn't exist on the external plane,

it already exsit on the mental plane

for something to exist on the external, that's the blueprint

만들어내고 싶은 무언가를 시각화할 때,

그것이 이미 있는 것으로 상상한다

밖으로 존재하지는 않지만,

정신계에서 이미 존재한다

무언가가 외부에 존재하기 위한

그것이 청사진이다

so when you have an idea in your mind,

and it could be the idea that came to you

because you were stepping back and forth

so a creative idea came to you from the depth of your being,

from the deep i

그대에게 어떤 생각이 떠오를 수 있는 것은

표면 나 에서 깊은 나로 왔다갔다 했기 때문이다

창조적인 생각은

그대 존재의 깊이, 깊은 나 에서 온다

and then you can use the same practice

to bring that into existence

plus action of course, action is necessary, empowered action

plus empowered vision

존재하도록

같은 것을 해볼 수 있다

물론 행동이 필요하다, 힘 받는 행동

그리고 힘 받는 비전

and empowered vision is,

there's virtually no difference as far as your feeling is concerned

between that thing already existing in the external world

and that thing whatever it may be in the only inner dimension of your mind

it's already there and you can sense it and you can feel it

힘 받는 비전,

그대의 느낌과 연관되어 있는 한, 사실상 차이가 없다

이미 외부 세상에 존재하는 것과

오로지 그대 마음 안의 차원에서만 존재하는 것 사이에

이미 있는 것

그래서 그대가 그것을 느낄 수 있다

and this is exactly what jesus said

'when you pray for something, believe that you already have it

and it will be yours'

it's very simple statement

정확히 jesus 가 말한 것이다

'그대가 무언가를 위한 기도를 할 때

이미 그것을 갖고 있는 것으로 믿어라

그것은 그대의 것일 것이다'

아주 간단한 표현이다

so you don't pray, 'please give me'

that is not an effective prayer

because that is a statement of lack

true creativity comes out of the sense,

the realization of being which is primordial fullness,

undifferentiated being

'제발 내게 달라' 라 기도하지 마라

그건 효과적인 기도가 아니다

결핍의 표현이므로

진짜 창조성은,

본래의 완전함인 존재를 알아차림,

차이 없는 존재를 느끼는데서 나온다

fullness and emptiness are the same term

emptiness just means formlessness

완전함과 비어 있음은 같은 표현이다

비어 있음은, 형상 없음 이란 뜻일 뿐이다

it's not even that the finite mind is ontologically less real than the infinite

in the ultimate analysis, 

there is no finite mind either to be more or less real than the infinite

존재적으로

제한된 마음은 무한보다 덜 진짜다

인 것도 아니다

근본적 분석에서,

무한보다 더 진짜라거나 덜 진짜일

제한된 마음이 없다

it's like quite asking,

is the apparently limited space in this room

more or less real than the vast sapce of the universe?

there isn't a limited space in this room

the space in this room seems to be limited

by the four walls of this room

이 방에 제한되어 있는 것처럼 보이는 공간은

우주의 광대한 공간보다 더 진짜인가, 덜 진짜인가,

라 묻는 것과 같다

이 방에 제한되어 있는 공간이 없다

네 벽에 의해,

제한되어 있는 것처럼 보인다

but if you sere to sample the space in this room

and you were to sample the space outside this room,

you would find they were the same

so there actually isn't the finite space

either to be more or less real

하지만 이 방의 공간 샘플,

이 방 밖 공간 샘플을 본다고 하면

같은 것임을 발견할 것이다

그래서 사실

더 진짜거나 덜 진짜일

제한된 공간이 없다

so at the leve of what we're speaking at the moment,

the level at which balyani speaks, 

he's very radical

he doesn't credit the finite mind with any existence at all

so from his point of view,

there is no finite mind or finite being

either to be more or less real

there's just the infinite

우리가 지금 말하고 있는 단계,

 balyani 가 말하는 단계에서

그는 아주 급진적이다

그는 제한된 마음의 존재를 전혀 인정하지 않는다

그래서 그의 관점에서

더 진짜라거나 덜 진짜라고 할

he's unusual

vast majority of religious and spiritual traditions

are willing to mak more of a compromise

and although the great religious and spiritual traditions,

i believe, that share the understanding that balyani has

and their traditions are founded on that understanding

그는 특별했다

종교적, 영적 전통들의 대다수가

다소 타협하려 한다

위대한 종교적, 영적 전통들은

balyani 가 가진 이해를 갖고 있고,

그 이해에 근거해서 세워진 것들이지만

because it's such a high understanding

and seems to be so removed from most people's experience

most people can't understand it

and therefore the teaching step down and says,

'ok let's credit the separate self

or the finite mind with an existence of its own

and now we're going to give that self something to do

so that it progresses and eventually realizes its identity with infinite

그렇게나 높은 이해라

대부분의 사람들의 경험에서는 빠져 있는 것 같다

대부분의 사람들은 그것을 이해할 수 없다

그래서 가르침이 내려선다

'그래, 분리되어 있는 자신, 혹은

제한된 마음이 별개로 존재한다고 하자

그럼 이제 그 자신에게, 할 것을 주겠다

그래서 점진적으로 나아가,

결국 무한이 정체성임을 알아차릴 수 있도록'

as far as planet is concerned

and the possibility of mass extinction,

apparently geologists tell us, there already have been five

it is possible that we are facing, we're going into six

my intuitive feeling is we have not arrived at that point yet

i won't exclude the possibility but

행성과

많은 생명체의 멸종 가능성과 관련해서

지질학자들이 우리에게 말하는 것은,

이미 다섯 번의 전멸이 있었고,

나의 직관적 느낌으로는

우리는 아직 그 지점에 이르지는 않았다

그 가능성을 베재하는 것은 아니다

things are still possible to kind of turn around

let's look at the previous five mass extinctions 

the last one, many people know about that,

happened approximately 65 million years ago

which is when the dinosaurs and many other life forms,

quickly became extinct

아직 전환이 가능하다

이전의 멸종을 봐보자

지난 번 것, 많은 사람들이 아는 것으로,

대략 6천 5백 만년 전, 공룡과 다른 많은 생명체들이

빠르게 사라졌다

we're almost certain that it was caused by a meteorite hitting the planet

and changing the climate totally

so a significant proportion of life forms became extinct

that was number five

운석이 행성을 쳐서, 날씨가 완전히 바뀌었기 때문인 것으로 알고 있다

그래서 상당한 비중으로, 생명체들이 사라졌다

그것이 다섯 번째 멸종이다

i believe it's the first or the second one,

there were already rudimentary life forms on the planet

and one life form,  certain bacteria through photosynthesis,

started to generate poisonous gas like substance on the planet,

which over many years started filling the planet

this gas was poisonous to many creatures

첫 번째인가 두 번째 멸종 때에는,

이미 행성에 초기 생명체들이 있었는데

어떤 박테리아가 광합성을 통해,

행성에, 독성 있는 가스 같은 물질을 만들어내기 시작했다

수 년에 걸쳐 행성을 채웠고,

이 가스는 많은 생명체들에게 독이 되었다

and this gas that filled the planet

and killed off many life forms,

is still around

we call it oxygen

so then life forms grew up that actually used that gas

to generate life and energy

행성을 채우고, 많은 샘명체들을 전멸시킨 이 가스는

여전히 있다

우린 그것을 산소라 부른다

사실 그 가스를 사용해

생명과 에너지가 만들어지면서

생명체들이 성장했다

after each extinction, 

60 or 70 % of life forms disappeared

and life regenarated on the planet

it took a little while, a few million years

멸종이 있던 때마다,

60 혹은 70 퍼센트의 생명체들이 사라졌다

그리고 삶은 행성에서 다시 생겨났다

시간이 좀 걸리긴 했다, 몇 백만 년

and each time it regerated,

the life that came had greater complexity

than the life form in the previous ones

in other words, there was greater infux of consciousness

매번 다시 생겨날 때마다

생명은 이전보다 더 복잡해졌다

다른 말로 하면, 의식이 더 크게 들어섰다

the planet therefore faced extreme adversity already five times

and succumbed to this catastrophic event

and each time something happened because 

the life on the planet is not

what you see on the surface with sensory perceptions

the essence of the life on the  planet is not visile to the senses,

a conscious energy field and vast intelligence

그렇게 행성은 이미 다섯 번, 극단의 역경을 마주했고

재앙에 굴복했다

행성의 삶은

감각적 인식으로, 표면에서 그대가 보는, 그것이 아니다

행성에서 삶의 본질은 감각에 보이지 않는

의식의 에너지 장, 광대한 지성이다

planetary intelliigence that is an aspect of universal intelligence,

the one consicousness out of which everything arises

that is not subject to death, you cannot destroy it

so even if we face  mass extinction,

life would regerate on the planet

whether humans would be still there, we don't know

전체 지성의 한 측면인, 행성 지성,

모든 것이 생겨나는 하나의 의식,

그것은 죽는 것이 아니다

파괴될 수 없다

그래서 설령 우리가 전멸을 마주한다 해도,

삶은 행성에 다시 생겨날 것이다

인간이 여전히 있을지, 그건 우리가 모른다

the essence of life is indestructible, is one consciousness

that remains

that will continuously regerate

and gradually it evolves

where it's going, nobody knows

삶의 본질은 파괴될 수 없다

하나의 의식인 그것이

남아 있는 것이다

그것이 계속해서 만들어낼 것이다

그리고 점차 점차 진화한다

어디로 가는가, 아무도 모른다

even you as an individual,

you have already evolved to reach this point

and you realize the truth of it

you recognize it from within

evolve through adversity, suffering

한 개인으로서의 그대조차,

이미 이 지점에 이르렀다

그 진실을 알아 본다

안에서 이해한다

역경, 고통을 통해 진화하는 것으로

고통스러울 때,

그 경험 내용에서 자신을 빼내어

자신에게 돌아오려는,

본래의 평화로운 본성을 보려는 충동이 있다 

when you're suffering, there is this strong impulse in you

to extricate yourself from the content of experience,

come back to yourself and recognize inherently its peaceful nature

when you're not suffering, when you're happy,

you're just one with your experience

there's no impulse to separate yourself from it

고통스럽지 않을 때, 행복할 때는

그대는 경험과 하나다

자신을 그것과 분리하려는 충동 없이

but this separation of yourself into the witness and the witnessed,

it's really an artificial distinction

because there are not really two elements to experience

a subject and an object

so actually when you're completely happy,

you and the content of your experience are one

보는 자와

보여지는 것으로

자신을 분리하는 것은

인위적 구분이다

정말로는 주체와 대상으로 경험할,

두 가지 요소가 없다

그래서 사실,

그대가 너무 행복할 때,

그대와 그대의 경험 내용은 하나다

but you're not one as a separate entity with your experience

there's just pure experiencing

you haven't separated yourself out as a knower

경험과 함께 하는,

분리되어 있는 존재로서가 아니라

그냥 순수히 경험중

자신을,

아는 자로 분리하지 않는다

identification means to make yourself the same as

what you are the infinite

if the infinite identifies itself with a body,

this mixture of infinite awareness plus a finite body

makes a finite awareness, a finite self

동일시 란

자신을 어떤 것처럼 만들어낸다 는 뜻이다

그대는 무한이다

무한이 몸과 자신을 동일시하면,

이 무한 자각과 유한한 몸의 뒤섞임은

유한한 자신을 만든다

but the infinite itself is not identified with anything

so when you stand as the infinite,

there isn't separate you that's identifying yourself

either with the infinite or with the finite

you are the infinite

just identical to yourself

is not a new identification with something

it's just your natural unidentified state

하지만 무한 자체는 어떤 것과도 동일시되어 있지 않다

그래서 그대가 무한으로서 있을 때,

자신을, 무한으로든 유한으로든

동일시하는 분리된 그대란 없다

그대는 무한이다

이건 무언가와의 새로운 동일시가 아니라

그냥 동일시되지 않은,

그대의 자연스러운 상태다
