if there's nothing else, be open to that

don't stifle it with an excessive amount of judgments,

but be open to the aliveness of this moment

그것 외 아무것도 없다면, 그것에 열려 있어라

그것을

that is choosing between these two possibilities,

getting lost in your thoughts and abiding

나 를 찾는 한 예가 되겠다

생각에 빠지기

혹은 나 로서 있기 

둘 중 선택하는 것이겠다

if you go deeply into that sense of i,

it's going deeply into yourself,

not into your thoughts, your feelings, your choices, your decisions and so on

but you go deeply into i that stands at the heart of yourself

just being or being aware

그 나 의 느낌으로 깊이 들어선다고 하면

자신으로 깊이 들어가는 것이다

그대의 생각, 느낌, 선택, 결정 등이 아니라

자신의 중심에 서 있는 나 로 깊이 들어간다

그냥 있기 혹은 깨어 있기다

you won't find the self that you normally think in the mind and the body

it's like king leah looking for the self of king leah

there's no self called king leah

there are thoughts and feelings and actions and relationships

that arises on behalf of an entity called king leah

but if king leah looks for the entity, he never finds it

we just find the fact of being or being aware

보통 그대가 마음과 몸에서 생각학하는 자신을

발견하지 못할 것이다

리어 왕이 리어 왕의 자신을 찾는 것과 같다

리어 왕이라는 자신은 없다

리어 왕이라 불리는 어떤 존재 대신 일어나는,

생각, 느낌, 움직임, 관계들이 있다

하지만 리어 왕이 그 존재를 찾는다면, 결코 발견 못한다

그냥 있다 혹은 깨어 있다는 사실을 발견할 뿐이다

cultivate that

it doesn't mean you fall below thought

you become more alert and present, and you rise above thought

강박적이고,

본의 아니게 하게 되는 생각 그만

그만하기 를 키워라

생각 없는 순간들을 그대 매일의 삶으로 들여라

생각 아래로 떨어진다는 뜻이 아니다

위스키를 세 잔 마시고 생각이 없게 되었다 가 아니다

더 깨어 있고, 더 현존한다

생각 위에 오른다

no thought,

inner spaciousness, that's what no thought is

if you don't find inner spaciousness, stillness, no thought,

nothing that you achieve will satisfy you

temporarily perhaps, but not for long

안의 공간감, 그것이 생각 없음 이다

안의 공간감, 가만 있음, 생각 없음을 발견하지 못한다면,

성취하는 어떤 것도 그대를 만족시키지 못할 것이다

일시적으로는 아마도, 하지만 오래는 아니다

no person, no relationship, no location or place, no possession,

will satisfy you truly for a long,

will always prove to be, have a downside

every person you meet, get married to, when you start living together,

you experience the downside of that person

어떤 사람도, 어떤 관계도, 어떤 위치나 장소도, 어떤 소유도

그대를 진실로 오래 만족시키지 못할 것이다

항상 문제점이 있는 것으로 드러날 것이다

그대가 만나는 모든 사람이,

so no matter what it is, you are condemned to continuous frustration,

if you don't find inner spaciousness

inner spaciousness frees you from the attachment to all the things in this world

which ultimately is attachment to your mind

because whatever you experience in this world, you experience as a mental formation

그래서 뭐든,

그대가 계속해서 좌절해 비난하게 된다,

그대가 안의 공간감을 발견하지 못한다면

안의 공간감은 

이 세상의 모든 것들에 대한 집착으로부터 그대를 놓여나게 한다

근본적으로는 그대의 마음에 대한 집착인 것에서

왜냐하면 그대가 이 세상에서 경험하는 것이 무엇이든

정신적 형상으로 경험하는 것이기 때문이다

thought giving you your identity,

which is limitation

생각이 그대에게 그대의 정체성을 준다

그것은 제한이다

cultivate the cessation of thought, stillness, alert presence,

bring it into your life in moments

when there's nothing to do for a minute

생각 없음,

고요함, 깨어 있는 현존을 키워라

그것을 그대의 삶으로 들여라

잠시 할 것이 없는 때

you can either get your cell phone out of your pocket

and start looking at it ike everybody else

like all the zombies that you see around you

people, they really look becoming like zombie

then the attention is absorbed by the cell phone which is an extensio of thought

it reflects thought back to you,

and you link into the collective thinking

아니면

핸드폰을 꺼내어, 다른 모든 사람들처럼 그것을 바라보기 시작할 수도 있다

그대 주변이 모두 좀비들인 것처럼

사람들은 정말로 좀비가 되는 것처럼 보인다

it's an incredible device, of course

but it's also highly dangerous

핸드폰은 물론 놀라운 장치다

you invite a moment of no thought into your life

cultivate presence

그대의 삶으로 생각 없는 순간을 초대해라

아주 단순한 외침으로 돌아가는 것과 같은 것이 있다

그 온갖 복잡한 기교들이 쓸모없이 보인다

우리는 외친다, 기도를 외친다

at some point in a blessed life, there arises the desire for truth

for real truth, not just my truth

final lasting eternal truth

and we give that many names

god or truth or enlightenment or self

but we discover it's what we want

축복 받은 삶의 어느 지점에서,

진리를 향한 열망이 생긴다

진짜 진리

'나의 진리' 인 것이 아니라

최종의 계속 가는 영원한 진리

우리는 그것에 많은 이름들을 준다

신 혹은 진리, 깨달음, 자신

그것이 우리가 원하는 것인 것을 발견한다

this doesn't happen for everyone

it's a mystery

who this desire chooses to appear in

but it must have appeared in everyone here

to one degree or another

모두에게 일어나는 것은 아니다

그것이 신비다

이 열망은 누구의 안에서 나타나기로 하는 건지

하지만 이곳에 있는 모두에게는 나타난 것이었을 것이다

어느 정도는

혹은 다른 정도들로

there's a kind of regressing back to the very simple yelling

where all the sophisticated techniques have been seen to be useless

in this desire, spiritual desire

and we yell and we yell a prayer

help me, feed me, take me, show me

이 열망 안에서

아주 단순한 외침으로 돌아가는 것과 같은 것이 있다

그 온갖 복잡한 기교들이 쓸모없이 보인다

우리는 외친다, 기도를 외친다

날 도와달라, 나에게 양분을 달라, 나를 데려가 달라, 나에게 보여달라

that's close, but even that doesn't work

because usually we are so interested in our yelling

that we neglect to see that what we yell for is already here

가깝게 갔다

하지만 그것도 아니다

왜냐하면 대개 우리는 우리의 외침에 관심 있다

우리가 외쳐 구하는 것이 이미 있는 것을 보려 하지 않는다

and this is called the cycle of reincarnation

that's all, nothing to do with you being a queen of egypt or the king of rome

it's this cycle, daily cycle, monthly cycle, yearly cycle, 

a whole lifetime of cycling in and out

and failing, failing,

and getting glimpses

이것이 전생, 환생 이라 불리는 것이다

이것이 전부다

이집트의 여왕이었다거나 로마의 왕이었다거나 와 관계 없다

이 순환이다, 매일, 매달, 매년,

온 삶의 들어서고 나가고, 들어서고, 나가고 의

그리고 실패하고, 실패한다

흘끗 알아채지는 것들은 있다

so last night when i spoke of my teacher's radical,

really radical teaching,

call off the search, give it up

and then your techniques,

what use are they?

지난 밤 내가 나의 스승의 급진적인,

정말로 급진적인 가르침에 대해 말한 것은-

탐색 그만

찾는 것 그만 이다

그 때 그대의 기교들이란,

그것들은 무슨 쓸모인가

it doesn't mean to give up the desire for truth

it means to call off searching for that

to call off relying on the mind to orchestrate how truth will be revealed

it means to give up your arrogance

in that you will somehow find or locate truth, and bring it to yourself

진리를 향한 열망을 포기한다는 뜻이 아니다

그것을 찾기를 그만둔다는 뜻이다

진리가 어떻게 발견될지 지휘하는 마음에 기대는 것을 그만두는 것이다

그대의 자만을 그만두는 것이다

그대가 어떻게 해서인가 진리를 발견할 것이라는,

그래서 그것을 그대 자신에게 가져다 줄 것이라는 자만을

all of this is based on a lie

the lie is that you are separate from truth, god, enlightenment, self

이런 모든 것이 거짓에 근거한다

그대가 진리에서, 신에게서, 깨달음에서, 자신 에게서 분리되어 있다는 거짓에

krishnamurti :

노력이란

나 그리고 내가 도달하려는 무언가인 것이다

나와 그것 사이의 분리다

그 분리는 갈등을 일으키게 되어 있다

분리가 없을 때, 갈등 없다

그래서 갈등이 완전히 끝날 때

그 때 명상이 온다

what is the meaning and the significance of life?

if there is any at all

if we say there is, you have already committed yourself to something

therefore you cannot examine

you already started with distortion

삶의 의미, 중요한 것은 무엇인가

있다면

우리가 있다고 말한다면

이미 무언가인 것에 자신을 맡겨버리는 것이다

그래서 조사할 수 없다

이미 왜곡과 함께 시작했다

or you say, there is nothing, no meaning to life,

that also is a form of distortion

아니면 삶에 의미는 없다, 아무것도 없다고 한다,

그것 또한 왜곡의 한 모습이다

so one must be completely free of both

both the positive and the negative assertions

this is the real beginning of meditation

when you do not demand any experience, 

there is no distortion, and therefore no illusion,

then only the mind being free is capable of looking at itself

looking at itself without any distortion

그래서 둘 다에서 완전히 자유로워야 한다

긍정적인 확신, 그리고 부정적인 확신 둘 다에서

이것이 명상의 진짜 시작이다

어떤 경험도 요구하지 않을 때,

왜곡 없다

그러므로 환영 없다

그 때 자유로워진 마음이

그 자신을 바라볼 수 있다

어떤 왜곡도 없이

distortion takes place when there is effort

effort implies me and something i'm going to achieve

division between me and that

that division invariably brings conflict

where there is divison, there must be conflict

and so meditation comes only when there is complete ending of conflict

노력이 있을 때 왜곡이 일어난다

노력이란

나 그리고 내가 도달하려는 무언가인 것이다

나와 그것 사이의 분리다

그 분리는 갈등을 일으키게 되어 있다

분리가 없을 때, 갈등 없다

그래서 갈등이 완전히 끝날 때

그 때 명상이 온다

therefore every other form of meditation

where there is effort, practice, control 

has no meaning

그래서

노력, 연습, 통제가 있는

다른 모든 명상이란 모습은

의미 없다

이름 붙이지 않고 바라보는 것

왜냐하면 이름 붙이기, 아는 것, 경험한 것이란

마음이 전체로 바라보지 못하게 한다

그대가 그 순간에 깨어 있지 않다면

그것이 얼마나 어려워지는지 봐라

can the mind observe without accumulating?

and the accumulation is the observer, is the censor, is the contidioned identity

therefore to look without accumulating

마음은

쌓아두지 않고 바라볼 수 있는가

쌓아두는 것은 바라보는 자다,

검열하는 자다, 조건화된 동일시다

쌓아두는 것 없이 바라보는 것이란

someone flatters you, says, how nice you are

or how stupid you are

now can you listen to what he is saying

that you are stupid or very cleaver, --

can you listen without accumulation?

누군가가 그대를 칭찬한다, 그대가 얼마나 멋진지

혹은 멍청하다 하거나

그가 말하는 것을 들을 수 있는가

쌓아두는 것 없이

that is,

without accumulating the insult or the flattery

because of you listen with accumulation, 

then he becomes your enemy

or your friend

모욕이나 칭찬을 모아두는 것 없이

왜냐하면 그대가 모으며 듣는다면,

그는 그대의 적이 된다

혹은 그대의 친구다

therefore that listening and how you listen creates the image

and that image separates

and that image is the cause of conflict

you believe and another dose not believe,

so there is contradiction

그렇게 듣는 것,

그대가 어떻게 듣는지가

이미지를 만들어낸다

그리고 그 이미지가 분리한다

그 이미지가 갈등의 원인이다

그대는 믿는 그림, 다른 자는 믿지 않는다

그렇게 충돌이 있다

so can you observe without separation?

can you observe at the moment of violence,

and the moment of your anger,

without the censor?

분리 없이 바라볼 수 있는가

폭력의 그 순간에, 그대가 화 나는 그 순간에,

검열 없이,

바라볼 수 있는가

see how difficult it becomes if you're not aware at the moment

if you are not aware at that moment, 

you have already created the image

그대가 그 순간에 깨어 있지 않다면

그것이 얼마나 어려워지는지 봐라

그대가 그 순간에 인식하지 않는다면,

그것으로 이미 이미지는 만들어졌다

just to observe without  naming it

because the naming, the knowledge, the experience,

prevents the mind from observing totally

so when the mind can look without the observer,

all fragments come to an end

in oneself

이름 붙이지 않고 바라보는 것

왜냐하면 이름 붙이기, 아는 것, 경험한 것이란

마음이 전체로 바라보지 못하게 한다

마음이 바라보는 자 없이 바라볼 수 있을 때

모든 분열이 끝난다

그 자신 안에서

and this is really important to grasp

and this cannot be taught by another

이것은 이해해야 할 정말 중요한 것이다

그리고 다른 이에 의해 가르쳐질 수 없다

the kingdom of heaven does not come with signs to be perceived

you cannot say, 'look, it's over here, there'

it cannot be an object of consciousness

this is the midunderstanding of god

'봐라, 여기에 있다, 저기에 있다'라 할 수 없다

혹은 진실로 하늘 왕국은 그대 안에 있다

의식의 대상일 수 없다는 뜻이다

the essence of who you are is consicousness

and consciousness is an emanation of that is we could call god

which does not exist in this dimension, is not part of space and time

but the light of it shines into this world

and manifest in you as consicousness

그대의 본질이 의식이다

의식은 우리가 신 이라 할 수도 있는 그것이 뿜어내는 것이다

이 차원에 존재하지 않는 것, 공간과 시간의 일부가 아닌 것

하지만 그 빛이 이 세상으로

그리고 그대 안에서 의식으로 나타난다

this is why jesus said, 'you are the light of the world'

this is so clear

it doesn't mean you are better than others

it points to the essence of who you are

the light of the world is consciousness in which the world appears

you are the consciousness that makes this world possible

이래서 jesus가, '그대는 세상의 빛이다'라 했다

이것은 아주 분명하다

그대가 다른 이들보다 낫다는 뜻이 아니다

그대의 본질을 가리킨다

세상의 빛은 의식, 그것에서 세상이 나타나 보인다

그대가 이 세상이 가능하게 하는 의식이다

and the mere belief and to an actual realization of the depth within you

in which you are connected to that vastness

that is consicousness

단지 믿는 것,

그리고 그대 안의 깊이,

그것 안에서 그대가 광대함과 연결되어 있다는 것을

의식을

실제로 알아차리는 것은

every form that exists is an expression of this one consicousness

that emanates into this dimension

and gradually it brings about an increase in conscioueness

so god itself is obviously beyond space and time,

there cannot be development

but the emanation that shines into this dimension and creates this universe,

there is an evolutiionary process

gradually more consciousness flows into this universe

from that transcendent source of all life

존재하는 모든 형상이

이 하나의 의식의 표현이다

이 차원으로 뿜어내는

그리고 점차 그것은, 의식에서 성장을 일으킨다

그래서 신 자체는 명백히 공간과 시간을 벗어나 있다

성장이 있을 수 없다

하지만 나타나 보이는 것,

이 차원으로 빛나고, 우주를 만들어내는 것에서는

진화 과정이 있다

모든 삶의 투명한 그 근원에서

there is the universe in the process of becoming more conscious

that's the amazing thing

점점 더 의식적이 되어가는 중인 우주가 있다

그것이 놀라운 것이다

i'm explaining something that we cannot understand conceptually

but i'm talking about it because i would like to refer to the possibility of realizing this beyond concepts

where you realize this depth that is within you

and then you see the person that you thought you were,

is a relatively fleeting phenomenon

나는 우리가 개념적으로 이해할 수 없는 것을 설명하고 있다

내가 그것에 대해 말하는 것은,

개념을 벗어나 알아차릴 수 있는 가능성을 말하고 싶기 때문이다

그대가 그대 안에서 이 깊이를 알아차리는 곳

그러면 그대라고 생각한 그 사람이,

상대적으로 지나가는 현상인 것을 본다

no human being awakens from within their comfort zone

sad fact

the ego doesn't like that

so the fact that there's applause here, means

you're already beyond ego

and you've recognized the truth of it

어떤 인간 존재도

그들의 안락한 구역에서 깨어나지 않는다

에고는 그것을 좋아하지 않는다

여기에서 박수 갈채가 있다는 사실은,

and this is the deep deep truth in that

i have not met any human that awaken from within their comfort zone

they awaken through facing,

to use almost the biblical term,

they awaken through facing tribulation

in this world you will find tribulation, said jejus

성서의 표현을 사용하면

the causeless happiness you speak of is your nature

it's the blue sky of happiness

우리 생각과 느낌에 의해 가려지는 때들이 있다

it's not a causeless feeling

happiness is not a feeling that rises up

but without a cause

happiness is your nature

it's synonymous with being

행복은 일어나는 느낌이 아니다

하지만 원인은 없다

그대의 본성이다

존재와 같은 말이다

존재의 본성이다

it's just there all the time in everybody

it is not in everybody, it is everybody

it is the nature of everyone at the deepest level

모두 안에 언제나 있는 것이다

모두 안에 있는 것이 아니다, 그것이 모두다

그것이, 가장 깊은 단계에서, 모두의 본성이다

but for must of the time, it's obscured by layers of experience

and if the layers of experience is thick and dark and dense,

then happiness is almost completely obscured

it's never completely obscured but

하지만 대부분, 경험 층들에 의해 가려진다

그리고 경험 층들이 두껍고 어둡고 짙다면

행복은 거의 완전히 가려진다

but it's always there

the mistake we make is because there is occasional parting of clouds,

and the blue sky shines through

the temptation is to think that the little patch of blue sky,

is a blue cloud amongst all the gray cloud

that's not the way it is

happiness is not an emotion

it's the background of all the emotions

but it shines through the cloud cover of emotions

and seems to be a feeling that comes and goes

it's not a feeling that comes and goes

it's the ever present nature of being

이것이 행복에 대한 흔한 이해다

행복은 고통과 함께 흔들리는, 감정일 뿐이다 라고

그건 그렇지 않다

행복은 감정이 아니다

모든 감정의 배경이다

하지만 감정이란 구름 껍데기를 뚫고 빛난다

오고 가는 느낌인 것 같아 보인다

그것은 오고 가는 느낌이 아니다

언제나 있는, 존재의 본성이다
