다른 종류의 지성이 있다

우리 문명은 개념화와 에고에 의해 지배되어 있다

 

모든 곳에 에고 존재들이 있다

개인들 뿐 아니라 덩어리들이

가령 미국 방송국으로 말하면, cnn 은 에고 존재다, fox 는 에고 존재다,

정당이 에고 존재다

기업이 집단 에고 존재다

그런 그들이 도처에 있다

when you look at the tree,

knowing that it is an olive tree

does not necessarily mean that you're not trapped in a concept

you're still able to let go of the concept, and then look at the tree

and be still while you look

 

그대가 나무를 바라볼 때

가령 올리브 나무다 라고 안다,

그렇다고 그대가 꼭 개념에 갇힌 것은 아니다

여전히 개념을 놓고, 나무를 바라볼 수 있다

그리고 바라보는 동안, 고요히

 

and then you know the tree not through concepts,

but you can sense the life of the tree,

deeper knowing

our civilization dislikes that

because our civilizations are dominated by conceptualization and the ego

 

그러면 개념을 통해 나무를 아는 것이 아니라

나무의 생명을 느낄 수 있다

더 깊은 앎이다

 

우리 문명은 그런 것을 싫어한다

우리 문명은 개념화와 에고에 의해 지배되기 때문이다

 

there are egoic entities everywhere

not just individual egos but egoic entities

cnn is an egoic entity, fox is, you talk about american tv station in case,

political party is,

a corporation is egoic collective entity

they're everywhere

 

모든 곳에 에고 존재들이 있다

개인들 뿐 아니라 덩어리들이

정당이 에고 존재다

기업이 집단 에고 존재다

그런 그들이 도처에 있다

 

 

you can sense the being of the tree, the presence of the tree

and you know it in a much deeper way

deeper than what your senses tell you about the tree

 

그대는 나무의 존재를 느낄 수 있다, 나무의 현존

그러면 훨씬 더 깊은 방식으로 나무를 안다

그대의 감각이 나무에 대해 말하는 것보다 더 깊은

 

all cultures and civilizations had more access to that dimension

because conceptual mind has not quite developed yet, 

so there are still some room for sensing to knowing things at a deeper level

when you look at the tree and you're still,

there is an intelligence there but it's not what we conventionally call it intelligence

there's a different kind of intelligence

and this is the beginning of the wisdom where intelligence turns into wisdom

wisdom is associated with this deeper way of knowing

 

모든 문화, 문명이 그런 차원에 보다 접근했던 적 있다

개념적인 마음이 아직 많이 발달하지 않았던 

그래서 아직 더 깊은 단계에서 느끼고 알 수 있는 공간이 있었다

 

나무를 볼 때, 

그대는 고요히

 

지성이 있다, 하지만 으레 지성이다 라 하는 그것이 아니다

다른 종류의 지성이 있다

이것이 지혜의 시작이다, 지성이 지혜로 변하는

지혜는 이렇게 더 깊이 아는 방식과 연결되어 있다

 

so you sense the aliveness of the tree, its beingness

then you come to that what ancient cultures knew

and we have to use that word,

the fringe of god so to speak

you sense the sacredness of the tree

you sense the sacredness of this life forms

then what arises is certain respect for the life from of the tree

 

그대가 나무의 생동감을 느낀다, 그 존재를 느낀다

그러면 고대 문화가 알던 것에 닿는다

 

그 말을 써야겠다, 

말하자면 신의 경계

 

그대는 나무의 신성함을 느낀다

이 생명 형상의 신성함을 느낀다

그러면 일어나는 것은, 나무의 삶의 형상에 대한 어떤 존경이다
