자기 이미지로, 그대는 성장하는가

 

 

그것을 통해 자기 성장이 있는가

그대가 갖고 있는 개념상 이미지, 세상에 보여주고 싶은 이미지,

그것으로 그대가 성장되었는가

ehhart tolle :

 

if you had not gone trhough the suffering you had gone throught,

you would not be here

there may be a few advanced souls here who may be 20 years old only or

and you're such an advance soul you have not experienced signifficant suffering

and nevertheless you're here

 

그대가 겪은 고통이 없었다면

여기에 있지 않을 것이다

20살 밖에 안 되거나 하는, 소수의 진화된 영혼들이 있을 수 있다

아주 진화된 영혼이어서, 중요한 경험을 하지 않았음에도, 여기에 있는

 

now that can have two reasons

either you're already gone through intense suffering in many other lifetimes,

you don't need it anymore

or you may have some ego image of yourself as a very advanced spiritual being

and therefore you would like to add it to your self image

and then you can post to the world that you are now attending a spiritual conference,

'look at me, i'm here'

 

두 가지 이유가 있을 수 있다

이미 다른 많은 삶들에서 강렬한 고통을 겪어서, 더는 필요없거나

아니면 

아주 진화된 영적 존재라는, 자신에 대한 어떤 에고 이미지일 수도 있다

그래서 자기 이미지에 더하고 싶다,

그러면 그것을 세상에 알릴 수 있다, 그대가 영적인 모임에 참가하고 있다고

'날 봐라, 나 여기 있다'

 

i'm not implying that everybody who has mentioned in their facebook pose or tweets

is necessarily a reflection of that stage

it just might be an innccent fact, why not

if there is no self identification with it, it's perfectly fine

but the question is there a self enhancement through it,

does the conceptual image that you have and want to present to the world enhanced by that?

 

페이스북이나 트윗에 언급한 이들 모두가 꼭 그 단계에 있다고 하는 것은 아니다

그냥 순수한 사실일 수 있다, 왜 안 되겠는가

그것에의 자기 동일시가 없다면, 완벽히 좋다

 

하지만 문제는, 

그것을 통해 자기 성장이 있는가

그대가 갖고 있는 개념상 이미지, 세상에 보여주고 싶은 이미지가

그것으로 성장되었는가

 

self observation is vital

because new consciousness arises only if the individual recognizes that

you can only change the world by changing a state of human conscisousness

that's why where all the communists went wrong,

all the people who want to bring in a new government go wrong,

all these things will do nothing if there is not a shift in consciousness

it will only recreate the same thing again and again and again

 

자기 관찰이 중요하다

왜냐하면 새로운 의식은, 그 개인이 알아차릴 때에만,

인간 의식의 상태를 변화시키는 것으로서만 세상을 바꿀 수 있다

그래서 그 모든 공산주의들이 잘못 갔다,

새로운 정부를 일으키고 싶어하는 그 모든 사람들이 잘못 간다,

이런 모든 것들은, 의식에서의 변화가 없다면, 소용 없을 것이다

단지 같은 것을 다시 또 다시 만들어낼 뿐이다

 

and that change in consciosness must 

there only one place where it can happen and that's in you

and that implies that you practice self observation

that is an essential part of the change in consciousness

to practice self observation implies that there is enough presence or awareness in you

from where you can self observe

maybe not all the time

 

그래서 의식에서의 변화

그것이 일어날 수 있는 유일한 자리가 있고, 그것은 그대 안에서다

그대가 자기 관찰을 한다는 뜻이다

그것이 의식에서의 변화에서 중요한 부분이다

자기 관찰을 하는 것은, 

그대 안에 충분한 현존 혹은 각성이 있다는 뜻이다

그곳에서 그대가 자신을 바라볼 수 있다

내내 그렇지는 못할 수도 있다

 

there is enough presence in you so that you can self observe

your own motivations, your own thought structures, 

what are the habitual thoughts that i think

so that you are not drwan continuously

into every thought that comes and follow it

where it wants to take you

 

그대 안에 충분한 현존이 있어서, 그대가 자신을 바라볼 수 있다

그대 자신의 동기, 생각의 구조, 습관적인 생각들,

그래서 계속해서 나타나는 모든 생각으로 끌려들어,

그것이 데려가고 싶은 곳으로 그것을 따라가지 않는다

 

so the ability to observe non judgmentally what goes inside you

there is awareness

that is self knowledge

self knowledge means not so much knowing on a conceptual level

ultimately the arising of new consciousness is not a better conceptual understanding of anything

it's not a better conceptual understanding of who you are

it goes beyond any concept

 

판단 없이 그대 안에서 밀어나는 것을 바라볼 수 있는 힘,

각성이 있다

그것이 자기 앎이다

자신에 대한 앎이란, 그다지 개념상 아는 것에 대한 것이 아니다

결국 새로운 의식이 일어나는 것은,

어떤 것에 대한 더 나은 개념상 이해가 아니다

그대가 누구인지에 대한 더 나은 개념상 이해가 아니다

어떤 개념도 벗어난다

 

awareness in itself does not necessarily imply immediately that you undrstand more about yourself,

in fact, as you become more aware in yourself,

the need to understand 'my life and work it out' diminishes

 

각성 그 자체는

그대가 그대 자신에 대해 더 이해한다는 것을 뜻하지는 않는다

사실 자신 안에서 더 깨어날수록,

'내 삶과 그것을 해결하는' 것을 이해할 필요가 덜어진다
