그 선생님은 기존 체제에 속할 수 없다는 뜻이다

선생님은 체제에 속할 수 없다는 뜻이다

체제란, 전통, 사회적 수용의 의미에서

 

그는 세상과 너무나도 달라야 한다

진실해야 하고, 통합되어 있어야 한다, 이걸 말하고 저걸 하는 것이 아니라

 

그래서 그 선생님이 있는 데서

학생은 완전히 안전한 느낌이다

그 선생님과 함께 있으면, 집에 있는 것이다

 

가족과 있다는 것이 아니다,

왜냐하면 가족은 그들 자신의 문제, 야망, 탐욕을 갖는다, 싸운다

 

그 선생님과 있는 학생은 이제 마침내 여기에서 정말로 보살피는 누군가가 있다고 느낀다

 

그런 관계가 확립 된다면,

난 배우고 싶다, 나에게 무슨 말을 해주길 바란다

그 선생님이 알고 있는 것을 너무나 열렬하게 알아내고 싶다

그런 선생님이 날 좋아할 때, 그것에는 상당히 다른 느낌이 있다

the teacher wants to convey his information

so that the student in getting the information, in growing in intelligence,

refinement or quality of clarity

and also he wants to establish a relationship of real friendship, real affection, real love

between himself and the student

when there is that quality of love, affection, a relationship, no sense of authority,

awakening or cultivation or bringing about that intelligence in the student

then the responsibility of the teacher is enormous

 

선생님은 그의 정보를 전달하고 싶어한다

그래서 학생이 그 정보를 얻도록, 지성으로 자라도록,

정제, 명확한 특질들이 성장하도록

 

또한 그 자신과 학생 사이에

진짜 우정, 진짜 애정, 진짜 사랑의 관계를 확립하고 싶어한다

사랑, 애정, 관계, 권위 없음의 특질이 있을 때,

그 학생에게서 지성이나 발전, 뭔가가 일으켜진다

 

그러면 그 선생님의 책임이란 어마어마하다

 

after all we are creating a new generation

which means the teacher cannot belong to the establishment,

establishment in the sense of the orthodox, the social acceptance

he must be vitally different in himself from the rest of the world

he must be authentic and have integrity, not just say one thing or do another

 

결국 우리는 새로운 한 세대를 만들어낸다 

선생님은 체제에 속할 수 없다는 뜻이다

체제란, 전통, 사회적 수용의 의미에서

 

그는 세상과 너무나도 달라야 한다

진실해야 하고, 통합되어 있어야 한다, 이걸 말하고 저걸 하는 것이 아니라

 

so that in the presence of that teacher,

the student feels completely secure

because with the teacher he's at home

not with the family, because family, they have their own problem, ambitions, greed,

they are fighting

the student with the teacher feels now at last here is somebody who really cares

 

그래서 그 선생님이 있는 데서

학생은 완전히 안전한 느낌이다

그 선생님과 함께 있으면, 집에 있는 것이다

가족과 있다는 것이 아니다,

왜냐하면 가족은 그들 자신의 문제, 야망, 탐욕을 갖는다, 싸운다

그 선생님과 있는 학생은 이제 마침내 여기에서 정말로 관심 있는 누군가가 있다고 느낀다

 

and when once you establish that kind of relationship  with a student,

i want to learn from you, i want you to tell me

i'm awfully eager to find out what you know

then when you like me, it has quite a different feeling in it

 

그런 관계가 확립 된다면,

난 배우고 싶다, 나에게 무슨 말을 해주길 바란다

그 선생님이 알고 있는 것을 너무나 열렬하게 알아내고 싶다

그런 선생님이 날 좋아할 때, 그것에는 상당히 다른 느낌이 있다

 

and then also you don't compare me with another student

if you compare me with another student, you're destroying the other student

because i am probably dull, and you comepare me to somebody who is cleverer,

there is this conflict

in comparison, competition, all that is bred in me

where if you say, look, i'm teaching you,

don't bother, i'm not comparing with anybody, you are

 

또한 나를 다른 학생과 비교하지 않는다

다른 학생과 비교한다면, 그 다른 학생을 파괴하는 것이다

내가 둔할 수 있다, 나를 보다 영리한 누군가와 비교한다,

여기에 갈등이 있다

비교, 경쟁으로 내 안에서 자란다

 

선생님이, '봐봐, 난 널 가르치고 있다, 신경쓰지 마라,

난 어느 누구와도 비교하지 않는다, 너다'라 한다면

 

so this sense of extraordinary feeling of intimacy, flow, friendship

without any sense of you must be this or that

then my mind wants to learn

 

이런 평범하지 않은 친밀감, 흐름, 우정이

'넌 이래야 한다 혹은 저래야 한다'라는 어떤 느낌도 없이,

그 때 나의 마음은 배우고 싶다
