'나는 어떤 한 사람'은 존재가 아니라 활동이다

우리가 존재라 할 수 있다면, 유일한 존재는

하나의 무한한 존재다

분리되어 있는 자신이란,

그 하나에서 일어나는 생각과 느낌의 활동이다

normally if you think, 'i'm a separate person, i'm a finite mind'

and meditation is an activity that i as this person or as this mind undertakes

actually the truth is the other way around

meditaion namely being or being aware is what we are,

is not an activity of what we do

and the separate self actually is not an entity

 

보통 '난 분리되어 있는 한 사람이다, 한계가 있는 마음이다'라 생각한다면

명상이란, 

이 사람 혹은 이 마음으로서 하는 활동이다

사실은 거꾸로다

 

명상, 즉 존재 혹은 깨어 있다 는

우리인 것이다

우리가 하는 활동이 아니다

 

그리고 사실 분리되어 있는 자신은 하나의 존재가 아니다

 

the only entity if we can call it an entity is the one infinite being

the separate self is an activity of thinking and feeling that takes place in the one

 

우리가 존재라 할 수 있다면, 유일한 존재는

하나의 무한한 존재다

분리되어 있는 자신이란,

그 하나에서 일어나는 생각과 느낌의 활동이다

 

everybody feels they're a self

and they're right

their feeling of identity, that feeling of being myself

its essence is the self they're truly are, infinite being

but to that infinite being is added a belief,

'i am limited and contained within the body'

 

모두가 그들이 하나의 자신이라 느낀다

그리고 그들이 맞다

그들의 '나 자신'이란 느낌,

그것의 본질은 진실로 그들인 자신이다, 무한한 존재다

하지만 무한한 존재에 한 믿음이 더해진다,

'난 제한되어 있다, 몸 안에'

 

so the apparently separate self is a compound

the true and only self of infinite being plus a belief and a feeling

so there is something real to the illusory separate self

so it's not true to say the separe self is non existent

it is, but it's not limited

 

그래서 분리되어 있는 자신으로 보이는 것은

합성물이다

진짜이고 유일한 무한한 존재 더하기,

믿음과 느낌

 

그래서 환영인,

분리되어 있는 자신에 진짜인 무언가가 있다

분리되어 있는 자신은 존재하지 않는 것이다 라 말하는 것은 사실이 아니다

있는 것이다, 하지만 그것은 제한되어 있지 않은 것이다

 

so the separte self is an illusion

but like all illusions, there is reality to it

what is the reality of the apparently separate self, infinite being

 

분리되어 있는 자신은 환영이다

하지만 모든 환영들처럼, 그것에 진짜인 것이 있다
