단지 간단한 현상, 깊게 느껴지는 고마움

이 존재는 그대 없이는, 무언가 빠져 있을 것이다

이 광대한 존재는 그대를 필요로 했다

다른 누구 아닌

 

그대의 자리는,

그대 이전 비어 있었고

그대 이후 비어있을 것이다

 

그렇지 않다면 그대는, 여기에 있지 않았을 것이다

we are very ungrateful to existence

it has given so much to us

and without our asking

and we are such ungrateful creatures

that we don't even bother to look around what the existence is continuously doing for us

the sun, the moon, the stars, the trees, the birds, the animal, the people

you are living in a tremendously beautiful dream

 

우리는 존재에게 너무 고마워하지 않는다

우리에게 너무나 많은 것이 주어졌는데

게다가 우리 요청 없이도

 

존재가 우리를 위헤 계쏙해서 주고 있는 것을

돌아보려 하지도 않는다

해, 달, 별, 나무, 새, 동물, 사람들

그대는 엄청나게 아름다운 꿈속에 살고 있다

 

but you have to be awake about it

then only a greatefulness arises

i call that gratefulness, true religion

a man need not be a christian to be religious

need not be a hindu to be religious

all that he need is a deep gratitude towards existence

 

하지만 그것에 그대가 깨어나야 한다

그때 감사함이 일어난다

 

난 그 감사함을 종교라 한다

인간은 종교적이 되기 위해 기독교인이 될 필요 없다

종교적이 되기 위해 힌두교인이 될 필요 없다

필요한 것은 존재를 향한 깊은 감사함 뿐이다

 

he needs not believe in god

he need not be lieven in heaven and hell

just a simple phenomenon

a deep felt gratitude

that this existence would have been missing something without you

that this vast existence needed you

no one else

 

신을 믿을 필요 없다

천국과 지옥을 믿을 필요 없다

단지 간단한 현성, 깊게 느껴지는 감사함

이 존재는 그대 없이는, 무언가 빠져 있을 것이다

이 광대한 존재는 그대를 필요로 했다

and your place was empty before you,

will be empty after you

it is irreplaceable

that gives a great contentment

man's greatest need is to be needed

and when you feel that the whole existence needs you,

otherwise you would not have been here

 

그리고 그대의 자리는,

그대 이전 비어 있었고

그대 이후 비어있을 것이다

대체될 수 없다

 

그것은 커다란 만족을 준다

인간의 가장 큰 필요는, 필요해지는 것이다

그리고 그대가, 온 존제가 그대를 필요로 하는 것을 느낄 때

 

그렇지 않다면, 그대는 여기에 있지 않았을 것이다
