마음의 관점에서는, 물건들이 실제다

우리가 내내 말하고 있는 이해의 단계에서는,

물건들과 사람들, 세상이

그것들 자신의 존재를 갖고 있다고 하지 않는다

그것들 모두,

하나의 실제가 나타나 보이는 모습으로 본다

the idea the reality is unknown

belongs to a lesser stage of understanding than we tend to discuss here

the idea the reality is mystery or unknown

is a concession to the mind that believs that the things that it does know are real

the objects, the people, the world

 

실체는 미지다 라는 생각은

우리가 여기에서 토의하고 있는 이해보다 낮은 단계의 이해다

실체는 신비 혹은 미지다 라는 생각은

마음이 아는 것이 실제라고 믿는 마음에게 양보하는 것이다

물건들, 사람들, 세상

 

if we think that objects are objects,

if we think that things are things,

if we think that peple are people,

then their reality cannot be known by the mind

so in reference to that belief, 

the reality of the material world,

it is legitimate to say that reality is a mystery or unknown

 

물건들을 물건들이라 생각하고

사람들을 사람들이라 생각하면,

그들의 실제는

마음에 의해 알려질 수 없다

그 믿음과 관련해서, 물질적 세상의 실체는

신비다 혹은 미지다 라 말하는 것이 타당하다

 

now this level of understanding at which we speak all the time,

we don't credit objects and people and the world with an existence of their own 

we see them all as an appearance of the one reality

 

우리가 내내 말하고 있는 이해의 단계에서는,

물건들과 사람들, 세상이

그것들 자신의 존재를 갖고 있다고 하지 않는다

그것들 모두,

하나의 실제가 나타나 보이는 모습으로 본다

 

and the things that we used to think that we know,

have never been found

they never even came into existence either to be known or not to be known

 

우리가 안다고 생각했던 것들은

발견된 적이 없다

그것들은, 알려지거나 알려지지 않거나, 존재로 들어선 적 없다

 

so the understanding that things are known and reality is never known

is the point of view of the mind

from the point of view of the mind, 

it's true that reality cannot be known by the mind

but here we tend to say all that is known is reality

we take the point of view of consciousness

 

그래서 -것들 은 알려지고, 실체는 알지 못한다는 이해는

마음의 관점이다

마음과 관점에서는,

실제가 마음에 의해 알려질 수 없다

하지만 여기에서 우리는, 알려지는 것은 실제 뿐이라 한다

우리는 의식의 관점이다

 

from the point of view of the mind, objects are real

and this reality that can never be known is sort of abstract and metaphysical

and we just presume that it's there, but we can't know it

in reality, it's the other way around

all that is known is reality

and the objects that mind seem to know, they are abstract

nobody has ever found an object

 

마음의 관점에서는, 물건들이 실제다

그리고 알려질 수 없는 실체는 추상적이고 형이상학적이다

 

실제로는 반대다

마음이 아는 것 같아 보이는 물건, 대상들은 추상적이다

아무도 물건, 대상을 발견한 적 없다
