누군가 이 단 하나의 지점으로의 열망을 갖는 것은

내가 발견하는 것은

 

난 팟캐스트에서 bernado, donal hoffman,

그리고 많은 사람들과 대화를 갖는데

 

가장 열려 있는 이들은 물리학자들인 것을 본다

내가 물리학자들과 가진 대화와 관련해서,

아름다운 것이 그것이다

 

그들이 모델을 만든다,

하지만 아주 예리하게 그 모델들을 무너뜨린다,

그것들을 만들자마자

 

그렇게나 겸손하다

그렇게나 밝은 지성이 있다

하지만 질문 또한 던지면서

 

진지함과 겸손함

기꺼이 그러려 함과 열려 있음,

'우리가 잘못한 것일 수 있다'라 기꺼이 생각하려 한다

 

그리고 계속해서 그러려는 용기,

경험의 입증과 머물려는

그것이 개언적으로 무슨 의미이든 간에

 

'이것을 탐험하는 것을 그치지 않을 것이다

경력이 위험해져서, 혹은 재정상 안정이나 명성 때문에'

 

'가장 중요한 것은 진리인 것 같다

그래서 난 그것을 향해 나아갈 것이다

개인적 삶이 무슨 대가를 치루든'

 

그것이 아주 아름다운 것이다

누군가 이 단 하나의 지점으로의 열망을 갖는 것은

"제한되어 있는 마음이,

어떻게 우리에게 친구이도록 할 수 있을까

혹은 이 탐구에 도움이 되도록 할 수 있을까"

 

by questioning assumptions

instead of presuming that its assumptions are necessarily true

and are derived from reality by questioning them

 

가정들에 의문을 갖는 것으로

가정들이 반드시 사실이라 추정하는 대신

그것들에 의문을 제기하는 것으로, 실체에서 도출되도록

 

'it looks as if things are made out of matter,

but maybe they're not'

 

'물건들은 물질로 만들어진 것처럼 보인다,

하지만 아닐 수도 있다'

in questioning

being open

realizing that the current model, the finite mind has of reality is very limited

and so questioning that model and being open

 

의문을 갖는다, 열어 둔다

지금의 모델로서의 제한되어 있는 마음이,

실체에 대해 갖는 것은 아주 제한되어 있다

그래서 그 모델에 의문을 제기한다,

그리고 열어둔다

 

and i find with all the converstaions that i've had on padcasts,

the conversation with benardo and donald hoffman

and many other people

 

그리고 내가 발견하는 것은

그리고 많은 사람들과 대화를 갖는데

 

i find, it's the physicists who are the most open

and that's something beautiful about the conversations i have with physicists

they build models, but they are so keen to destroy the models

as soon as they built them

there's so much humility, so much luminous intelligence,

but coupled with so much questioning

and sincerity and humility,

and willingness, openness

willingness to think, 'we may just have got it wrong'

 

난 가장 열려 있는 이들은 물리학자들인 것을 본다

내가 물리학자들과 가진 대화와 관련해서,

아름다운 것이 그것이다

그들이 모델을 만든다, 하지만 아주 예민하게 그 모델들을 무너뜨린다,

and courage to stay on the track,

to stay with the evidence of experience

irrespective of what it means of you personally

so you're not going to cease exploring this

because your career is in danger

or your financial stability or your reputation

it's like the truth is the most important thing to me,

and i'm going for it

whatever the cost to my personal life

that's something very beautiful

when somebody has just this single pointed desire

that's the most important thing in my life,

and i'm going to go for it

whatever the implications for me personally'

that's something very beautiful
