순수한 주의

다른 인간들에게 줄 수 있는 가장 큰 선물은,

그대의 순수한 주의란 선물이다

누군가를 바라볼 때, 그들에게 주의를 준다,

그들을 향해 흐르는 에너지가 있다

순수한 주의는,

그대가 더 이상 표를 붙이지 않는다,

거기에서 나가는 흐름이 있다

주의는 에너지다

 

you give the greatest gift to other humans that you can give

and that is the gift of your pure attention

when you look at somebody, and you give them attention,

there's an outflow of energy towards them

pure attention is, you're not labelling anymore

there's an outflow, attention is energy

 

or you give attention to a child

many parents can't do that because they're continuously saying to the child,

'do this, don't do that'

there's a never pure attention or rarely

there's always something to sort out and to make better

of course, those things have their place

but that's the only reality of 'do this, do that'

 

가령 아이에게 주의를 준다

많은 부모들이 그렇게 하지 못한다 왜냐하면

그들은 계속해서 아이에게, '이것을 해라, 저건 하지 마라'라 말하고 있기 때문이다

결코 순수한 주의가 없다, 혹은 드물거나

항상 가려낼 것이 있고, 더 낫게 할 것이 있다

물론, 그런 것들에 그것들의 자리가 있다

하지만 '이것을 해라, 저것을 해라'라는 현실이 유일한 것이라면

 

that spaceiousness which is attention, giving it to the other,

and the child can feel that

if you just look at the child, and you listen to the child,

it's a beautiful thing

there's a flow

 

주의 인 공간감, 그것을 다른 이에게 주는 것,

아이는 그것을 느낄 수 있다

그대가 아이를 바라본다, 귀 기울여 듣는다면

그건 아름답다

흐름이 있다

 

then something comes back to you from the other

because attention is, we can almost say, a form of love, in a deeper sense

there's a giving, an outflow

it's not your personal belonging

attention comes through you, it doesn't come from you

it comes through you from the divine one consciousness

and you become an opening for that

 

그렇게 되면 뭔가가 다른 이에게서 그대에게 돌아온다

주의는, 더 깊은 의미에서의, 사랑의 모습과 같기 때문이다

주는 것이 있다, 흘러가는 것이 있다

그대가 사적으로 소유한 것이 아니다

주의는 그대를 통해 온다, 그대로부터 오는 것이 아니라

신성한 하나의 의식에서, 그대를 통해 온다

그대가 그 출구가 된다

 

then the way in which you expeirnce reality changes dramatically

life in general is no longer perceived as hostile

it becomes helpful through that

and this again, when you look at the tree or

you listen to the sounds,

that's the outflow of attention

 

그러면 그대가 현실을 경험하는 방식이 극적으로 변한다

대개의 삶이 더는 적대적으로 인식되지 않는다

유용한 것이 된다, 그것을 통해

 

그리고 또, 그대가 나무를 바라보거나 들을 때,

그것이 주의의 표현이다

 

it's a mysterious ultimately unnamable energy that goes,

it has no form

and you can become an opening for that

and then it begins to live through you

that essence

and express itself through you

in what form it express itself varies from peron to person

 

신비로운, 결국에는 이름 붙일 수 없는 에너지가 간다,

그것은 모양을 갖고 있지 않다

그대가 그것의 출구가 될 수 있다

그러면 그것이 그대를 통해 살기 시작한다

그 본질

그대를 통해 그 자신을 표현한다

어떤 모습으로 표현되는가는, 사람마다 다양하다

 

you stay where you are, you become more kind and loving

not because you're thinking, 'i need to be kind and loving'

that doesn't work

you can try very hard

'love your neighbor as yourself' - 'ok i'll try' - 'except that guy and that one'

 

그대는 그대가 있는 곳에 머문다

더 친절해지고 사랑스러워진다

'난 친절해야 하고, 사랑해야 한다'라 생각해서가 아니다

그건 효과 없다

아주 열심히 해 볼 수는 있다

'그대의 이웃을 그대 자신처럼 사랑해라'

-'그래 노력하겠다', '저 자와 저 자 빼고'
