마음에 의해 모습을 갖출 수도 있고, 아닐 수도 있다

 

마음과 이해, 사랑과 느낌,

사랑은 우리 느낌에 일어나지 않는다

사랑은 느낌이 아니다

느낌에서 표현될 수는 있지만

it can be formulated by the mind

what if i ask you a question, what is 6 plus 7?

so you heard my question,

my question is a formulation of the mind,

your answer 13 is a formulation of the mind,

but in between the question, 

your mind pauses, it goes somewhere

and the mind rises again with the answer 13

 

이해는 마음에서 일어나지 않는다

마음에서 모습으로 만들어질 수는 있다

 

내가 그대에게, 6 더하기 7은 무엇인가 라 묻는다면?

 

- 13

 

그대가 나의 질문을 들었다

내 질문은 마음이 모습을 만들어 나타낸 것이다

그대의 답 13 도 마음이 모습으로 만들어낸 것이다

하지만 질문과 그 사이에서,

 

그대의 마음이 잠시 멈춘다

어딘가 다른 곳으로 간다

그리고 13 이라는 답을 들고 다시 떠오른다

 

so the experience of understanding takes place in between the question

the answer 13 is not itself the understanding

it is a formulation of the understanding

 

그래서 이해의 경험은

질문과 그 사이에서 일어난다

답 13 자체가 이해는 아니다

그건 이해를 모습으로 나타낸 것이다

 

understanding doesn't take place in the mind

it may or may not be formulated by the mind

it is in fact that the taste of our true nature,

understanding to the mind, what love is to our feeling,

love doesn't take place in our feeling

it's not a feeling

althought it can be expressed in our feelings

 

이해는 마음에서 일어나지 않는다

마음에 의해 모습을 갖출 수도 있고, 아닐 수도 있다

 

마음과 이해, 사랑과 느낌,

사랑은 우리 느낌에 일어나지 않는다

understanding doesn't take place in the mind

it's a glimpse of our true nature

although it can be expressed in the mind

 

이해는 마음에서 일어나지 않는다

우리 진짜 본성을 잠깐 보는 것은, 마음에서 일어나지 않는다

마음에서 표현될 수는 있다

 

so when you say, you are trying to understand something,

your mind is trying to appropriate consciousness's knowledge of itself

 

그래서 그대가 무언가를 이해하려고 노력한다 라 말하는 것은,

그대의 마음이,

의식이 그 자신을 아는 것을

마음에 맞추어 모습을 만들어내려 하는 것이다
