경험 대상이 아니라,

우리 안의 '나'로 바로 가리키는

가르침과 마주치게 된다

 

그것이 바로 가는 길, 무한으로의 직접 연결이다

하지만 이것을 스스로 즉시 발견하는 사람들은 거의 없다

우리들 대부분은 세상에서 누군가나 무언가를 만나야 한다

but the overriding the impulse of the localized individual

is to be divested of its limitations and return to its natural condition, the infinite

that is why there is this seeking in all of us

and to begin with, we're seeking object, substances, relationships, activities and so on

what we really seeking is not the object, the activity of the relationship itself

what we really seek is to bring the seeking mind to an end

because when the mind comes to an end, 

our true nature of consciousness briefly shines

 

의식이 줄어든, 개인들이란 형상의,

최우선 열망은

제한 없이, 그 자신의 자연스러운 상태, 무한으로 되돌아가는 것이다

그래서 이 추구가 우리 모두의 안에 있다

 

우선 우리는, 대상, 물질, 관계, 활동 등등 을 쫓는다

우리가 정말로 찾는 것은 그것들이 아니다

찾는 마음을 끝내려는 것이다

마음이 끝날 때, 우리 본성이 잠깐 빛나는 것을 보기 때문에

 

so that's why we start off seeking in the world

we're not really seeking anything objective in the world

we think we are, but we're not

we're seeking the peace of our true nature

then after the world has failed us sufficiently

often we start seeking in the spiritual and religious traditions

 

그렇게 먼저, 세상에서 찾는다

정말로 찾는 것은 세상에서의 대상들이 아니다

우리는 우리가 그렇다고 생각한다, 하지만 아니다

우리 본성의 평화를 찾고 있다

 

그런 다음 세상에서 충분히 실패한 후

영적, 종교적 전통들에서 찾기 시작한다

 

and eventually we come across a teaching

which doesn't point us towards any subtle object of experience,

but points us directly back to the i am in us

that's the direct path, direct link to the infinite

but very few people discover this spontaneously for themselves

ramana maharshi was one, but it's extremely rare

almost all of us need to meet someone or something in the world

 

결국

우리에게 경험 대상을 가리키는 것이 아니라,

우리 안의 '나'로 바로 가리키는

가르침과 마주친다

 

그것이 바로 가는 길, 무한으로의 직접 연결이다

because of the outward going tendencies of the mind,

the mind is looking outward for something

so awareness has to appear in the form of something outward,

something objective

because of this longing we have in our heart,

the longing becomes so strong, 

 

마음의 밖으로 나가는 성향 때문에

마음은 밖으로 무언가를 찾는다

그래서 자각은, 밖으로 무언가로 나타나 보여야 한다

대상의 무언가로

 

우리 가슴에 갖는 이 갈망

갈망이 아주 강해진다

 

awareness is compelled, not just to pull the person back into the heart directly,

is compelled to show up in the world in a form

that will take us back to our true nature

 

자각은

그 사람을 바로 가슴으로 되돌리는 것 뿐 아니라

세상에서, 어떤 모습으로 나타나야 한다

우리를 우리 본성으로 되돌릴 것인 것으로
