깨어 있으면서 깊이 잠들어 있는 것

우리가 깊이 잠들어 있을 때는, 채색되어 있지 않다

그래서 평화롭다

하지만 사실 지금 우리 존재가

우리가 깊은 잠이라 하는 그것이다

 

깨어 있으면서 깊이 잠들어 있는 것

그것은 존재로서 있다는 뜻이다

경험이 있는 중에, 그리고 경험 없는 중에

the deep sleep state is only a state reference to these other two states

but from its own point of view, it is not a state

it's just eternal condition

it's only a state in reference to waking and dreaming

it is just the eternal nature of being

and right now our being is the same condition

that it is in when we are deeply asleep

 

깊은 잠 상태는

다른 두 상태

-일어나 있는 상태와 꿈을 꾸는 상태 - 와 관련해서, 상태라 할 뿐이다

깊은 잠 그 자체의 관점에서는, 

그건 상태가 아니다

그냥 영원한 상황이다

존재의 영원한 본성이다

 

그리고 바로 지금, 우리 존재가 그와 같다

우리가 깊이 잠들어 있을 때의 그것이다

 

only now it is colored by thoughts, images, sensations, and perceptions

and when we are deeply asleep, it is no longer colored

that's why it's peaceful

but actually our being now is what we call deeply asleep

to be deeply asleep whilst remaining awake,

it means to remain as being

in the midst of experience and in the absence of experience

 

단지 지금은 생각, 이미지, 감각, 인식의 색채가 더해져 있다

우리가 깊이 잠들어 있을 때는, 채색되어 있지 않다

그래서 평화롭다

하지만 사실 지금 우리 존재가

우리가 깊은 잠이라 하는 그것이다

 

깨어 있으면서 깊이 잠들어 있는 것

그것은 존재로서 있다는 뜻이다

경험이 있는 중에, 그리고 경험 없는 중에

 

witnessing of light is an unusual phenomenon,

but in terms of what we speak of here,

the recognition fo nature of being

and living the implications of that recognition,

it's irrelevant

it's of no more significance than the taste of tea

 

빛을 봤따 라고 하는 그것은

흔한 현상은 아니다

하지만 우리가 여기에서 말하고 있는,

존재의 본성 알아차리기, 그리고 그 이해의 의미를 살기,

그 측면에서

그것은 관련없다

차 한 잔보다 중요한 게 아니다

 

but that's not to say that at a relative level, 

the experience is not valuable

it is valuable just like a cup of tea is valualbe for certain reason

so i'm not dismissing the experience

but i'm saying it tells us nothing about the nature of being

 

하지만 상대적인 단계에서,

그 경험이 가치없다고 말하는 것이 아니다

가치있다, 차 한 잔이 어떤 이유로 가치있는 것처럼

 

그러니 나는 그 경험을 무시하는 것이 아니다

하지만 존재의 본성과 관련하여 그것이 말해주는 것이 없다

 

and here, our focus is very narrow

much narrower than most spiritual teachings or traditions 

here all we're interested in is the nature of reality

and its implications in the way we lead our life

 

여기에서 우리 초점은 아주 좁다

대부분의 영적 가르침이나 전동보다 훨씬 좁다

여기에서 우리가 관심을 두는 것이라고는, 실체의 본성

그리고 그 방식으로 우리 삶을 끌어가는 것이다
