어떤 것에도 본래 있는 의미로 하나인 것이 없다

그대의 지혜는 그대 안의 그 자리,

그것 안에서 이런 온갖 것들이 나타나 보이고, 사라지는 공간에 주의를 둘 때,

그래서 그대가 끊임없이 있는 것이 있는 것을 보게 될 때 온다

 

오고 가는 것이 아니라,

안정적이며 영원히 있는 것이므로, 온갖 것들의 오고 감이 인식되는 곳,

하지만 정신적, 감정적, 심리적, 상상하는 것들에 의해 그대가 휩쓸려가지 않는다

 

이것을 나는 인간 얼 의 바로 그 아름다움이라 한다

we use the word prematurely,

our version of what we think a reality is, 

who can say what is real, 

you can say what is true for you at this moment,

and as long as there arises within you many concepts, complex concepts

to work you way through that kind of traffic is very very, almost impossible,

especially if you're holding onto personal identity,

 

우리는 말을 서둘러 사용한다

우리가 실제라 생각하는 버전,

누가 무엇이 실제인지 말할 수 있는가

그대는 지금 이 순간 그대에게 진짜인 것을 말할 수 있다,

그리고 그대 안에서 무수한 개념, 복잡한 관념들이 일어나는 한

그런 일종의 교통 체증을 헤쳐나가는 것은 아주, 아주, 거의 불가능하다,

특히 그대가 제한된 인식에의 동일시를 붙들고 있다면

 

i would say personal identity is the seed and the factory for this type of complex thinking,

your being is not constantly thinking about life and trying to understand,

even who can understand life even? this is even an arrogance

 

나는, 제한된 인식에의 동일시가 이런 복잡한 사고의 씨앗이고, 공장이라 말하겠다,

그대의 존재는 삶에 대해 끊임없이 생각하고, 이해하려 노력하는 것이 아니다,

심지어는 누가 삶을 이해할 수 있다는 것인가, 이것은 거만하기까지 하다

 

there's not one single inherent meaning in anything at all,

the meaning inside something exists inside the mind of the one who perceive it,

if we're carrying a lot of idea, concepts about life,

i don't think you're going to be happy,

happiness doesn't come from having big bunch of sophisticated concepts,

in fact, the more empty we are of holding onto these concepts,

the more your being shines with peace and silence and beauty,

the less work, life is,

and more unfolding,

 

어떤 것에도 본래 있는 의미로 하나인 것이 없다

무언가의 의미는 그것을 인식하는 자의 마음 안에 존재한다

우리가 무수한 관념, 삶에 대한 개념들을 지고 다닌다면,

그대가 행복할거라 생각하지 않는다

행복은 커다란 덩어리의 복잡한 개념들을 갖는 것에서 나오는 것이 아니다

 

사실, 이런 개념들을 우리가 덜 붙들수록,

그대의 존재는 더 평화와 침묵, 아름다움의 빛을 낸다

일을 적게 할수록, 삶이 있다,

그리고 더 많은 펼쳐짐이 있다

 

and it can change so radically that the same place that you're used to looking at,

when you come back to your original seeing,

become almost heaven on earth for you

 

변화는 아주 급격할 수 있어서,

그대가 바라보던 같은 곳을,

그대의 본래 바라봄으로 돌아갈 때,

그대에게 거의 지상의 천국이 된다

 

it's not the place, it's how much you've grown back into your original nature,

it's not how much you know about somelthing,

sometimes it's how little you know and how much you are

 

장소가 아니다,

그대의 본성으로 얼마나 돌아가느냐이다

무언가에 대해 그대가 얼마나 많이 아느냐 가 아니다

때로는 그대가 거의 모르면서, 그대의 존재가 풍요롭다

 

so i would not want to tackle, i would not want to go in that direction of many..........,

call of the day,

 

그러니 나는 씨름하고 싶지 않다, 무수한 복잡한 것들의 방향으로 가고 싶지 않다,

그러다 오늘 하루 끝이다

 

be a little empty, make a little space, leave off your pages empty 

so that God can write a little something in your book

 

조금은 비어라, 약간의 공간을 만들어라, 그대의 페이지를 빈 채로 남겨둬라,

그래서 신이 그대의 책에 무언가 적을 수 있도록

 

so it's important i feel not to,

it's not about how much learning you may think you have

because nothing is so fixed actually in universe that you can make a fact out of it

 

그러니 중요한 것은

그대가 얼마나 많이 배웠을 것이라 생각하는 것에 관한 것이 아니다

왜냐하면 아무것도, 실제로 우주에, 그대가 그것에서 사실이라고 할 수 있는 그렇게 고정된 것이 없다

 

your wisdom comes when you pay attention to that place within you

that space within which all these things are appearing and disappearing,

and you come to see that there is that which is constantly, 

not coming and going, but because it is stable and ever present,

the comings and goings of all things are perceived,

and yet you are not swept away by the waves of mental, emotional, psychological, imaginary things,

this i would put to be the very beauty of the human spirit
