그대에게 일어난 무언가로 인식되는 것이 아니라 그대인 자의 일부가 된다

그래서 변형시키고, 그대에게 행해진 것을 벗어나고, 그대에게 행해진 것에 의해 억압되지 않을 수 있는 힘,

개인적인 차원에서나 집단적으로나,

그것을 넘어서 갈 수 있는 힘,

그대가 희생자에의 동일시에 갇혀있는 한, 그대는 이 힘을 갖지 못한다

왜냐하면 에고는 희생자인 것을 놓고 싶어하지 않는다

일단 무언가가 에고로 결합되면, 에고는 놓고 싶어하지 않는다

그것이 그대에게 귀중하기 때문이다

now almost everybody has in one way or another been a victim of other people

but in some cases, much more so than in others

some element of being victim is probably present in everybody's life

in other words, you are surrounded by unconcious humans,

then unconscious humans will inflict suffering on themselves and others

that's just how it is when you're alive on this planet

 

거의 모두가 어느 면에서, 다른 사람들의 희생자가 되어 왔다

하지만 어느 경우들은, 다른 이들보다 훨씬 더 그렇다

희생자가 되는 요소는 아마 모두의 삶에 있을 것이다

childhood particulary is a plce where many many children experience abuse,

either monor forms of abuse, emotional abuse or they live in a very toxic family environment

and then of course there are other children who experience much more serious forms of abuse and really suffer

and they carry with them the memory, both mental and emotional memory of what happened to them

in some cases, the memory is repressed, the emotions may be repressed,

the child could not deal with them, and they had to repress them,

and then later the possiblity of remembering arises and then you remember what happened to you

and how do you do, is the question,

what do you do with what happened to you? what was done to you

how do you deal with what was done to you by other humans?

whether it happened in childhood or whether it happened later in life

whether it was a relatively monor thing or whether it was a very serious form of abuse

 

특히 어린 시절이, 많고 많은 아이들이 학대를 경험하는 때이다

작은 학대, 감정적 학대, 혹은 아주 독성이 있는 가정 환경에서 사는 아이들이 있다

그런 다음 물론, 훨씬 더 심각한 학대를 경험하고 정말로 고통스러워하는 아이들이 있다

그리고 그들은 그 기억을 갖고 있다, 그들에게 무엇이 일어났는지에 대해 정신적으로, 감정적으로

 

어느 경우, 기억이 억압된다, 감정이 억압될 수 있다

그 아이는 그것들에 대처할 수 없었을 것이다, 그들은 그것을 억압해야 했다

now the ego, the human ego is looking for something as a sense of identity,

it's looking for a stronger sense of identity

because it always feels, i'm not enough

so it's trying to add something that it can identify with, so add to its sense of self

and it very often happens that the memory of having been abused is used by the ego,

and is added to the ego's sense of self

so that means, you not only remember what happened to you,

the memory of what happenened to you which is a bundle of thoughts and emotions that go with it

the memory of what happened to you is more than just memory

there is self identity with the memory

 

이제 에고, 인간의 에고는 정체성의 느낌으로서의 무언가를 찾는다

보다 강한 정체성의 느낌을 찾는다

항상, '나는 충분하지 않아' 라 느껴지기 때문이다

그래서 동일시할 수 있을 무언가를 더하려 한다, 그 자신의 느낌에

 

그리고 아주 흔히 일어나는 것은, 학대 당한 기억이 에고에 의해 이용 당한다

에고의 자신이란 느낌에 더해진다

그래서 그것은, 그대가 그대에게 일어난 것을 기억할 뿐 아니라

그대에게 일어난 것에 대한 기억, 한 보따리의 생각과 감정들이 함께 한다

그대에게 일어난 것에 대한 기억이 그냥 기억인 것 이상이다

그 기억과의 자기 동일시가 있다

 

in other words, it's not perceived as just something that happened to you,

but it becomes a part of who you perceive to be

so i'm a victim of that

it's not that this was done to me, but i am a vicim of

so it's the transition from memory to self

that is the victim identity

 

다른 말로 하면, 그대에게 일어난 무언가로 인식되는 것이 아니라

그대인 자의 일부가 된다

그래서 나는 그것의 희생자다

나에게 행해진 것이 아니라는 것이 아니다, 나는 희생자다

그래서 기억에서 자신으로의 이동이다

그것이 희생자에의 동일시다

 

the ego does that because vicrim identity is a very powerful form of identity, a very powerful form of ego

and particularly in cases where the ego does not find sufficient things that i can identify with in this world

because the most common form of identification, for example, is with the way you look,

you look better than others, so you can identify with that

if you look worse than others, of course, that could become part of your victim identity

because you've been treated unfairly by life and life has made you look worse than others,

that could become part of victim identity

that's not actually abuse but also being incorporated into victim identity

 

에고는 그렇게 한다, 왜냐하면 희생자에의 동일시는 아주 강력한 모습의 정체성이기 때문이다,

아주 강력한 형태의 에고다

그리고 특히, 에고가 충분한 것들을 찾지 못하는 경우,

이 세상에서 동일시할 수 있을 것들을,

 

왜냐하면 가장 공통되는 모습의 정체성은, 예를 들어, 그대가 바라보는 방식과 관련되어 있다

그대가 다른 자들보다 더 낫게 보인다, 그래서 그대는 그것과 동일시할 수 있다

그대가 다른 이들보다 못나게 보인다면 물론, 그것이 그대의 희생자로의 동일시의 일부가 될 수 있을 것이다

왜냐하면 그대는 삶에 의해 불공정하게 대접받았다, 그리고 삶은 그대를 다른 이들보다 못나게 보이도록 만들었다

그것이 희생자에의 동일시의 일부가 될 수 있을 것이다

그건 정말로는 학대는 아니다, 하지만 희생자에의 동일시로 결합하게 된다

 

however, so normally what people identity with is appearance,

which is physical appearance or the body, what your external looks, even what you put on the body, 

is regarded as part of the body,

so clothes become something you identify with because they're on the body, so they're perceived as being part of you

possessions, common things, what i own, i own this car, you don't,

therefore i feel a bit stronger in my sense of self

so i have a stronger identity compared to others

house, any form of possessions

then we have social function in this world, position that you have, social position in this world you identify with

that you feel, gives you superiority

 

대개 사람들이 동일시하는 것은 외양이다

육체적인 외양 혹은 몸,  그대의 외부가 어떻게 보이는가,

그대가 몸에 입는 것조차도, 몸의 일부로 여겨진다

그래서 옷이 그대가 동일시하는 무언가가 된다

그것들은 몸에 있기 때문이다, 그래서 그대의 일부로 인식되므로

 

소유물들, 흔히, 내가 소유하는 것, 나는 이 차를 갖고 있다, 너는 그렇지 않다

그래서 나는 나 자신의 느낌에서 좀 더 강한 느낌이 든다

그래서 나는 다른 이들에 비해 더 강한 정체성을 갖고 있다

 

집, 어느 모습의 소유물이든

 

그런 다음 우리는 이 세상에서 사회적 작용을 지닌다, 그대가 갖고 있는 위치,

그대가 동일시하는, 이 세상에서의 사회적 위치,

그것이 그대에게 그대가 우월하다 느끼게 한다

 

with every ego identification, the most important thing is superiority

ego seeks that

it cannot tolerate inferiority

 

모든 에고 정체성과 관련해서, 가장 중요한 것은 우월함이다

에고는 그것을 추구한다

열등함을 참을 수 없다

 

now it's not, many humans find it easy to find things in this world that they can derive of a sense of superiority from

 

많은 인간들이 이 세상에서, 그들이 우월감을 얻을 수 있는 것을 찾는 것이 쉽지는 않다

 

the ego is looking for something, now it could be something like resentment,

grievances towards other humans, anger towards other humans or groups of humans,

the ego can get in there, identify with those thoughts and gives them the sense of superiority

 

에고는 무언가를 찾는다, 

이제 그것은 적개심과 같은 것이 될 수도 있다

다른 인간들을 향한 분통함, 다른 인간들 혹은 인간 무리들을 향한 분노,

에고는 그곳에 들어설 수 있다, 그런 생각들과 동일시하고, 그들에게 우월한 느낌을 준다

 

so even if you have nothing, the ego can make you angry at other people, 

you start shouting at them and you feel suddenly superior to everybody

all these awful people out there

that brings us already in the direction of victim identity

victim identity again, you remember what was done to you and the memory becomes incorporated, as i said, into your sense of self,

that becomes me, the victim of those people

that's me, i am the victim

so you become in your perception a victim of this or that other people

this enhances your ego, because 

by being a victim, you feel superior to others

not only those who inflicted suffering on you, whether real or imagined,

but you also feel superior to anybody else who is not as much as the victim as you are

 

그대가 아무것도 갖고 있지 않다 해도, 에고는 그대로 하여금 다른 사람들에게 분노케 할 수 있다

그들을 향해 소리치기 시작한다, 그리고 돌연 모두보다 우월하게 느껴진다,

'이런 끔찍한 사람들이 저기 있다'

 

그것이 이미 희생자로의 동일시의 방향으로 데려간다

희생자에의 동일시 란 다시, 

그대에게 행해진 것을 기억한다, 그 기억이, 내가 말한 것처럼, 그대의 자신에 대한 느낌과 합쳐진다

그것이 내가 된다, 그런 사람들의 희생자

그것이 나다, 내가 희생자다

 

그래서 그대는 그대의 인식에서, 이것이나 저것이나 다른 사람들의 희생자가 된다

이것이 그대의 에고를 강화한다

왜냐하면 희생자가 되는 것으로, 그대는 다른 자들보다 우월함을 느끼기 때문이다

그대에게 고통을 가한 자들만이 아니라, 진짜이든 상상이든,

그대는 그대 만큼 희생자가 아닌 다른 이들에게도 우월함을 느낀다

 

it's an unconscious process

so if you can talk about your victimhood, anybody who is less of a victim than you is inferior

and so, the superiority is a moral one, one could say

because if unjust things were done to you, then by being a victim of unjust deeds, perpetrated by other humans,

you automatically morally become superior

not only to those who inflicted that on you but also to other human who are not victims,

or cannot claim, have not as much claim on victimhood as you have

so you are morally superior to them

it's a delusion

every egoic identity has a delusion

so ultimately it's a delusion

but it's the stronger the ego is, the more you become about who you are

 

그건 무의식적인 과정이다

그대가 그대의 희생자의식에 대해 말한다면, 그대보다 덜한 희생자는 누구라도 열등하다

그래서 우월함이 윤리적인 것이라 말할 수 있겠다

왜냐하면 부당한 것들이 그대에게 행해졌다, 그러면 부당한 행동들의 피해자가 되는 것으로, 다른 인간들에 의해 가해진,

그대는 자동적으로 윤리상 우월하게 된다

그대에게 가한 자들에게 뿐 아니라, 피해자가 아닌 다른 인간에게 또한

혹은 그대가 지닌 것만큼 피해를 주장할 수 없는 인간들에게

 

그래서 그대는 윤리상 그들보다 우월하다

그것은 환영이다

모든 에고의 정체성이 환영을 갖고 있다

그래서 결국, 그것은 환영이다

하지만 그 에고는 더 강해진다, 그대가 누구인지와 관련하여 더할수록

 

and that you can also have collective victimhood as very common these days

 

또한 집단적 피해의식을 가질 수도 있다,

요즘은 아주 흔하다

 

people you identify with

whatever way, it could be gender or race or social class that was opporessed,

certainly these things have happened

people, social groups have been victimized, so to speak, in the past

suffering inflicted by humans or other groups of humans certainly happened,

and to remember that is fine, to recognize it for what it is

it's like similiar to the memory of an individual person suffering abuse, injustice and so on

and now, if it's collective, it's a very similiar process

you remember what was being done

the question is, is that just a memory? and you recognize what was behind it?

or is it more than a memory? is it something that becomes endowed with a sense of self,

then you have a collective victim identity

that is also very powerful

and this is to say that it's an illusion

it's not to say that these abuse did not happen, the illusion is what you are doing to yourself, by deriving your sense of identity from this thing that happened in the past

 

그대가 동일시하는 사람들

어느 식으로든

그것은 성별이 될 수도 있고, 인종 혹은 억압받는 사회적 계층일 수도 있다

분명히 이런 것들은 일어났다

사람들, 사회적 무리들이 희생자가 되어 왔다, 예를 들면, 과거에

인간들 혹은 다른 인간들의 무리에 의해 가해진 고통은 분명히 일어났다

그리고 그것을 기억하는 것은 괜찮다, 그것이 무엇인지에 대해 알아차리는 것은

 

한 개인이 학대, 부당함 등을 당한 기억과 마찬가지다

그것 또한 아주 강력하다

 

그리고 이것은 환영이라 할 것이다

이런 학대가 일어나지 않았다고 하는 것이 아니다

환영은, 그대가 그대 자신에게 하는 것이다, 그대의 정체성에 대한 느낌을 과거에 일어난 이것에서 얻는 것으로

 

that is an enormous limitation on my life

because immediately, the implication, 

when a significant part of your identity is that of a victim,

the implication is that you remain a victim, there isn't much you can do because they've made you into a victim

you've made yourself a victim

what can you do now?

you are obviously morally superior to everybody who is less of a victim than you,

but you condemn yourself almost to powerlessness

when any kind of victim identity, you really want to remain powerless

because to say that you can transcend what was done to you, you can overcome the effect of it, you can go beyond it, you have the power to go beyond the abuse that was done to you,

which every human has that power

you can never discover that power, if you are trapped in a victim identity

so the power to transcend, to go beyond what was done to you, not to be held back by what was done to you on an individual level or collectively,

the power to go beyond it is,

you do not have this power as long as you remain trapped in a victim identity

because the ego does not want to let go of being a victim

once something has been incorporated into the ego, the ego does not want to let go,

because it is precious to you

 

그것은 내 삶에 어마어마한 제한이다

그대의 정체성의 중요한 부분이 희생자의 것일 때, 

그것은 그대가 희생자로 남아있다는 것이다

그대가 할 수 있는 것이 많지 않다, 그것들이 그대를 희생자로 만들었다, 그대가 그대 자신을 희생자로 만들었다

이제 그대는 무엇을 할 수 있는가

그대는 명백히 그대보다 덜 피해자인 누구보다 윤리적으로 우월하다

하지만 그대는 그대 자신을 거의 무력한 것으로 비난한다

 

어느 종류든 희생자에의 동일시일 때, 그대는 정말로 무력하게 남아있고 싶어한다

 

그대에게 행해진 것을 그대가 변형시킬 수 있다,

그것이 미친 영향을 극복할 수 있다,

그대는 그것을 넘어설 수 있다,

그대에게 행해진 학대를 극복하는 힘을 갖고 있다,

모든 인간이 갖고 있는 힘이다

그대가 희생자에의 동일시에 갇혀있다면, 그대는 결코 그 힘을 발견할 수 없다

 

그래서 변형시키고, 그대에게 행해진 것을 벗어나고, 그대에게 행해진 것에 의해 억압되지 않을 수 있는 힘,

그것을 넘어서 갈 수 있는 힘,
